Well yes. The biometrics have to be taken before the EAD can be issued. However, your fingerprints may be rejected or there may be another problem. As soon as you get the fingerprints done, to my understanding, they start the name check process with the FBI. You could get backlogged into that.

I think its going to take more than 30 days. From other peoples experiences, you are looking at at least 90 days.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

I've heard of the people at biometrics telling people stuff like this before. Their heart is in the right place, they think they're encouraging you, but really they're just giving you incorrect information that gives false hope, and I'd wish they'd stop.

The fact is most of the time people in ASCs have no clue as to what goes on in the AOS process, they're just hired to take fingerprints.

I have just received an e-mail from CRIS stating my EAD card has been ordered today but I never had any biometrics taken. The only ones I did do were back in Dec 2004 for my AOS and EAD after I got married.
