Hi,

Anyone have any idea why they wanted the RFE sent to Lee's Summit, MO, instead of Chicago, where I sent my AOS & EAD?

Thanks!

I believe that is because Lee's Summit is your service center. Mine is at Lee's Summit as well.

Its not 'your' service center - its the National Benefits Center, where APs and EADs are processed.

My RFE was for AOS, not EAD, and I just checked out that link, and they don't list AOS.

Chicago is a mail drop facility and nothing more.... all applications are then forwarded to the NBC... once there they are check for all the correct evidence and fees.... then the initial processing is done.... name chacks are started, biometrics are orgenized and if they find then need anything else they send you a RFE.... once all the evidence has been recieved and the initial processing is done it get sent to your local office for interview... for some people there cases are sent to CSC where there is a good chance you will be approved without interview.... but all intital processing is done at NBC....

Its more than just a drop box, there are people there that do a pre-pre-processing of your forms. They check that forms are all signed and the fees are included, they also cash the checks at the lockbox itself, which is in fact run by a Bank (BankOne to be precise). I believe that the Chicago Lockbox also reorganises your application into the folder format used by USCIS. After this initial checks is done, then they forward to the NBC.
