Hi, My husband and I have our interview on Aug 9th and have a trip planned for out of the country on the 13th. Hoping everything goes well, does anyone know if they will stamp his passport with approval right then? Should wwe tell them we have a trip planned? I am really hoping we can go on our trip. It is supposed to be our honeymoon. At least I have travel insurance just in case!!!

Not many offices are giving the I-551 stamp anymore. You can tell them you have a trip planned, and hopefully they will make an exception, but I think they have stopped doing the stamps now.

Good thing you got travel insurance just in case you will have to postpone your trip.

My daughter's GC arrived 7 days after her AOS interview.

Feb. 22/06... AOS Interview - APPROVED!!!!! (Passport NOT stamped)

May 23/08... 10-Yr. PR Card arrives in the mail

Mar. 22/11.... N-400 sent to AZ

June 27/11..... Interview - PASSED!!!

July 12/11..... Oath Ceremony

In Miami at our interview they gave us the stamp and we didn't even ask for it. The officer said we would have the green card in a few weeks but if we needed to go anywhere the stamp would be OK, but he did warn us that most airline personnel don't understand the stamp and there would probably be some confusion. We weren't planning to go anywhere so it was not an issue.

They're not consistent. I asked for the stamp at my interview, and was told "no we don't give those out any more because the green cards come so quickly now, you'll have your card in 2 weeks." Of course it didn't come in 2 weeks, but whatever!
