I'll throw in my two cents from our experience, in case it helps.

We answered "yes" on that question on page 13, part 8 question 61 and have so far not received an RFIE or an RFE. We have simply received a notice of receipt, and soon after our online access codes.

However, that's all we received. No biometrics appointment notice as of yet and the myprogress simply says that it is taking longer than expected.

So, maybe there is some ground for the theory that cases with RFIE get processed quicker.

Hello mw & rg,

well, we did that mistake. It was sent when I saw your's and grumpypiggy's discussion about it. This seems to be a common pitfall.

How did you actually send the fix?
I read you did it online. We haven't received an Online Access Number yet.
Did you send the complete I-485 paperwork with a cover letter or just page 13 with a cover letter?
Cover letter probably said you saw this problem and wanna fix it with this?

Thanks for any help!

So happy you guys here had a fast processing and now with the CR-1 time to relief for a bit until IR-1.

When you receive your online access code, you will be able to see all of your cases.
in our case, the original K1 as well as our AOS, EAD, and AP filings.
The myProgress tab seems useless (as you have read in this forum) but there is a documents tab.

In this documents tab there is a way to "upload unsolicited evidence"
In our case, we regenerated a complete I-486, added a cover letter as to what was changed and uploaded as "Other"

Since we had received an RFE for the support, that was also uploaded (previously as RFE response)

AND when we had the legal name change (finalized court docs) we uploaded those (as Identity Documents).

Finally .... any documents they send to you are listed under that section and can be downloaded
(hence, have the approval letter long before it has actually been received from USPS)

Here is hoping you get your access code soon ... Some were able to get this from Emma using the receipt number but she has never been helpful when I ask her questions.

To be honest, nothing about USCIS processing order makes any sense at all.
The EAD (for us) reached "Taking longer than expected" on two seperate occasions ....
Then ... poof, AOS approved ....

Looking through case tracker (android app) ... and https://www.casestatusext.com/forms/I-485/IOE-LB  ....
I can find no rhyme or reason to the order of processing.

Hello! I asked about the online access code as well and someone in the group provided the info that not all cases get converted to an online case - some case numbers start with MSC and the ones that start with IOE get an online access code while the ones that don’t get converted don’t.

I have a friend of mine also answered it wrong without receiving RFE yet. She just uploaded page numbers related to question 61-68 with cover letter explaining changes, did not submit the complete I-485 paperwork and got approval as well.

The reason why I submitted the whole form again with initials signed next to changes been made is because that's what is required in the RFE. I think if you haven't received one yet, you can just upload the cover letter along with updated pages as one file in the online account as unsolidated evidence.

If your case number started with IOE, I would suggest you wait another week for the online access code, since your filing date is Dec 14. I haven't heard anyone mailed evidence without RFE to USCIS, so better just wait to upload it online. If you get the related RFE before the online access code, that's ok too. Just follow the instructions and mail it. In general, no need to worry too much :)

Hope this helps you!

One limitation of these tracking tools is that the vast majority of cases captured aren't adjusting from K1, and as far as I'm aware there's no way to filter to just K1-to-AOS cases. So there's no way to really know what's "typical" for us, other than maybe going through posts and timelines here (which also has its own limitations and probably won't get you the most accurate sample).

I'm in a 0922 wechat group with 140 family based AOS filers, from what I could tell among all the 8 filers who got approved by now, 2 are K1 (including me). Those who got approved with I-130 are case number starting with 09220-09223, while K1 approval filers like me are 09228.

So the general idea we discussed is K1 should be relatively faster than spouses that filed AOS with I-130, because we already went through I-129F. So less paperwork to check for USCIS, and probably less chance to get an interview.

Right, I agree with that. It's just difficult to get hard, clean data that we can extrapolate timing from.

Of those already approved in our group, how many were being processed through the Lee's  Summit,MO USCIS Office. That's where both the AOS and EAD as well as AP for my wife are being processed through, and yet we live in Southern California.....down to 1 week again on EAD, and still not showing the RFE for the I-864 has been received yet my USPS green tracking post card was returned....

For reference we are a 09226 (k1)

I see in case track when searching that 485 has plenty of "close" other cases not just k1 even in my group ...

Best bet for k1 is to use the time-line search here but that is self reporting and not definitive either ...

Lee's Summit is the National Benefits Center. I believe they process all EAD and AP cases, and also some AOS cases (which eventually get handed off to the local FO).

My RFE letter is from SAN JOSE field office, but other than that all came from NBC.
