Emma re-emerges ....

The phone answering assistant at Experian is seeming to be using the same underlying "keep them away" technology as Emma.

Went through the phone system and ran into "I can only transfer people under certain circumstances ... if you want to use the automated system, press 1. To end this call press 2."

Ugh ... thought I was done with that kind of silly at least for a while.
(unfortunately, something is off with my ladies SSN and can't do a number of basic things like signing up a credit Karma account or even one with any of the agencies)

Hello!

I was wondering if you were able to solve the problem with your wife’s SSN and the credit agencies? Seems like my husband is having the same issue. I could add him to my bank account and also to my credit card but he can’t even sign up for an online account and I can’t make him an account manager. Every time I enter his SSN is says “invalid”. Not sure how I can resolve the issue. Any information and help from you will be greatly appreciated.

We never got login.gov to work for mySSN account ... we did use ID.me (the other way) and had to video verify but she did get into her account eventually.

The major problem is a lack of credit history.  Sign them up for a secured credit card through your bank, add them as authorized users and eventually it should get easier

We did file a written dispute with each of the agencies that eventually allowed us to login to experian, transequity, and equifax but that is all that did.

Never got CreditKarma to work or anyone that uses experian challenge questions (yet)

On a next step note, we just returned from Brazil (first use of the GC) and did the global entry interview ...

Took ~2 mo for the conditional approval and the final approval happened during the interview (even the officer seemed to think that was fast)

The completed I-693 Medical as requested by the RFE we were sent 2 weeks ago was received last Friday at USCIS. Yesterday the case status showed this update:

February 11, 2024

Response To USCIS' Request For Evidence Was Received

On February 11, 2024, we received your response to our Request for Evidence for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, Receipt Number IOE09229......

USCIS has begun working on your case again. We will send you a decision or notify you if we need something from you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Response received on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at 8:12 a.m. PST. We will review the evidence.

I will keep you folks updated as things progress.  Hopefully no more RFE's as this was the second one we had received since filing gor the AOS on October 31st.

No movement on my wife's GC AOS. Last update was as above, nothing new in the system... still says 4 months to next step.

I don't even know what to do anymore, I feel like our case has been left on the back burner AGAIN!

It's been 69 days since our case status has been updated saying

"Case was updated to show fingerprints were taken" 1/10/24

Is there anything we can do to get things moving? I feel like we should have heard something by now. My husband not being able to work is kiiling me financially we are just barely getting by with my income. Any insight is greatly appreciated!

I put in a case inquiry and checked processing times for our I-765 and I-485 to be told that our case is still within normal processing times.

I asked Emma to speak with a LIVE CHAT agent and even though it took some persistence I got through to an agent, who basically told me the same thing. The last time I spoke with the LIVE CHAT we saw some movement on our case, so I am hoping for the same result. I pleaded with the woman and told her that most October applicants have already received EAD. She told me she cannot compare one case to another. Hopefully something comes of this. I just want to move forward to the next step 🤞

I do understand your frustration. Luckily my wife recieved her EAD card and the AP.  I had hoped to have her GC, but as you have heard it's within normal processing times.

We did not want to travel using the AP, but wanted the green card to travel on for fear of her getting stuck in Myanmar with the current situation the country is having....

Hey Sara - it is really frustrating. We are in the same boat, but we can see online we were sent an RFE for our green card application last Thursday (this is the first notification of any movement on the application since fingerprints were taken in November) - physical RFE letter didn’t arrive by mail yet and no movement on the EAD and advanced parole, but hopefully there will be progress on yours soon as well 🫶🏽

It is comforting to know I am not alone in this! Thank you for sharing your info with me, hope your RFE is something easy and you will have your approvals in no time!

Update... we got GC approved on March 21. Green card is en route via mail to us. Long journey is finally done! Hoping everyone else will be approved soon!

Congratulations! Hopefully you won't have to do I-751. Right now it's even a longer journey of close to 2 years.

Wife received her EAD card and then AP paper, both separately in January, no combo card.  Status on the APP shows 4 months with 2 months until next step which would be step 4.  However, there has been no movement since the RFE for her medical was received on Feb 11th.  With her EAD good for 5 years, but her AP only valid until January of next year it makes me wonder if she will have her GC by then or if we will need to re-apply for the AP again.  It is hard to understand how some folks received a combo card and others just after receiving them obtained the GC while others are still in limbo.  Called the field office and was told we can not request an update until after June.  Was told we are within processing times which could take up to 20 months.

While we consider ourselves very lucky with the December GC arrival ... so have an update for this group.

Be very careful with first years taxes when claiming Married.

Just today,  we received our second taxes RFE ... first from IRS and second from State

We filed ours as Married Filing Jointly. My wife is now on all of the checking and savings accounts as well as having her own joint Credit Cards with me. She will be listed on the house title soon as well.
