Hi everyone!

Posting my question here to see if anyone else had a similar issue.

NOA1 11/14

Biometrics letter on 12/2

Completed biometrics 12/20 but the case status still says "Biometrics scheduled".

We didn't do biometrics before the scheduled date like a lot of others have done.

I asked Emma but the response was that your case is within normal processing time.

I'm getting super worried because I see a lot of folks had their status changed to "actively being reviewed" within a few days in the Oct, Nov threads.

Any input would be appreciated!!

I'm going to ask here as it seems this thread is more active and have more people who know...

Question 1: do K1 -> AOS filers usually not need an interview?

Question 2: after doing biometrics on January 2nd, our case was updated as biometrics completed. The time at that point for estimated decision was 5 months but yesterday it updated to 2 months. How realistic does anything think this is?

Update here: I asked Emma (a live rep) and they said my case is still with NBC, not transferred to a local field office. They also let me know after asking that our case had the interview waived and we won't need that (we are filing from K1 visa).

If you read back in this thread, In general the myProgress has been worthless in estimating anything ....
Similarly, there is no transparency with transfers between NBC and local Offices ....

I wish I had better news or a way to improve visability .... but best of luck on your case.

As I said in an earlier post I dont believe that the MyProgress tab is very worthy as an indicator.  My wife just checked and the Status for the I-485 shows 1 month, while the EAD has gone from "Taking longer than expected" to now showing 4 weeks.  We shall see how this actually changes next week as time progresses out.  I did submit "Unsolicited evidence" for the I-485 earlier this week in reference to the Public Charge question many of us seem to have answered incorrectly instead of waiting for an RFE.

When submitting the unsolicited evidence regarding the public charge question, did you submit an entirely new I-485 signing it with todays date, or did you just correct the pages that needed to be corrected and signed those? Also, did you only upload this online or did you also send it by mail? I answered the question wrong as well :(

@Linn1

I have not been in the forum for a few months but was catching up on Friday and realized I too answered this one wrong. 😑

We have been experiencing the 4 months to 4 weeks to 4 months back and forth so I’ve been getting annoyed.

I resubmitted (online via unsolicited evidence) just the two pages with corrected answers on Friday, each one initialed, and a cover letter with explanation. That’s based on what previous posters did who had not YET received an RFE

Hoping it is sufficient! Haven’t heard anything yet but will update once I do.

What I did was create a cover letter explaining the attached pages were  an update to correct the I-485 Section 8 Public charge, and only submitted those originally submitted pages (our copy) with my wife initialing each of the changes for numbers 61-68.b.  This was done using the On-Line portion under the I-485 section in the USCIS app and uploaded as unsolicited information.  I hope it keeps us from being sent an RFE as the I-485 shows it is being actively reviewed at this point.

Hi all, here is my timeline:

  • 9/12/2023 mailed I-485 packet (packet received 9/14)
  • 9/27/2023 Case number assigned (IOE09224...)
  • 10/10/2023 Letter recvd regarding biometrics. Biometrics scheduled for 10/20.
  • 10/20/2021, completed biometrics
  • 10/21/2023. case shows as "Case is being actively reviewed by USCIS"

and crickets since then. I check the status almost everyday and it never changes anything. I am losing a lot of patience as my wife wants to visit her family but I keep being the bearer of bad news to her telling her there are no updates almost daily. Should I contact USCIS about the status? Am I in normal processing times compared to you guys? Anyone file around the same time as me and still waiting? I am desperate for some movement. Any insight would be helpful! Thank you!

Sure hope that USPS wasn't infected with the USCIS bug.

Package (with GC) picked up on the 21st. Expected delivery on the 23rd.
Took a while to get to regional center (longer than would have been normal).
Spent all day with it saying it would be delivered today ....

Then, a recent change to delivery date unknown.

Guess should not have paid for the FMM counting on it being here since USPS said it would be.
For rest of you, hope you also don't make $250+ mistakes on the USPS service (ooph)

usps.jpg

Jokes on me as well lol

My GC said was delivered by USPS on Dec 22, but the UPS store did not received it (my mailing address is a UPS lockbox, usually I will get an email notification of packages delivered to UPS the same day). My husband thought it might just been the holiday season, UPS busy with all the packages and didn't get the time to scan them all into their system, so we waited til Dec 26, still no result. I was so desperate, we opened a case with USPS and filed a police record of potential lost/theft of ID card and ready to fill I-90 replacement of GC (another 6 months - 1 year perhaps), then guess what....

Right after we reported to the police station on Dec 28, we went back to the UPS store to pick up another package and another employee we know for a long time was nice enough to help us finding it again (3rd attempt after other staff), and finally found it in the pile....lol

Looks like it was the USPS fault of not putting that into the package pile on top for them to scan as package (usually they put all the things in a bin and packages with tracking# on top, mails on the bottom), and UPS somehow thought it was a regular mail and did not scan it into the system....

Anyway, what a rollercoaster experience. Big relief that I got the card (they are a surprising amount of USPS losing GC cases I found online, got me so scared)...USPS overall is just 💩💩. I hope USCIS could give more options on carriers especially for important documents like ID card, at least required signatures...

We sent a new I-485, signed and dated ..... a cover letter explaining the changes .... and noting the changes in the additional info section at the end (as another change).

May be partly responsible for our quickened GC approval ....
