@leva&Brian ....
Agree (unfortunately) with Osman ... timeline even on USCIS site is a poor estimator or tool to plan for anything.
We are stuck waiting on the I765 at the moment unable to get Drivers License or SSN Name update complete until the Government finishes with that .... aiaiai

Oh shoot… I just passed the knowledge test for the driving permit and they told me to change the name on my SSN card to my married name first before getting my permit issued. I’ll go to the SSA office tomorrow and see if they can update my name so that I can proceed with the driving permit. Not being able to drive is a big limitation in the Midwest🥲

My wife had the same problem. She went to the SSA and they told her that she first needs her EAD before she can make the change. We are in Massachusetts.

My wife applied for her CA. ID card. It never arrived and after a call to DMV we were told it was because her I-94 was expiring and the other NOA documents would not suffice.  Was told she needed her EAD card....insanity.  tried to add her to the Bank accounts and was told the same thing, didn't matter that she was on the household bills and had a SSN.

Just checked the USCIS My Progress tab, it now says 1 week for EAD approval.

Mine said 1 week .... and just now it changed to "Taking longer than expected" (for the second time.

They should just remove these estimators ... the estimate is totally useless.

Hi everyone! I just learned that there is a thread of AOS by month as well! Happy to see many familiar faces from the K1 forums.

Just to give a quick overview of our timeline:

16 Oct: submitted packet

18 Oct: packet received

26 Oct: NOA1

Still waiting for biometrics to be scheduled sigh. Our local office is Providence, RI.

As many are mentioning, the my USCIS tracking seems to be very off as both my AP and EAD would have been approved weeks ago lol. The estimate for AOS shows 4 months, but I highly doubt it.

Glad to see so many of you already in the biometrics process!

Checking status with the MyProgress tab on the USCIS page after logging in shows 2 weeks for processing the EAD card.  Has anyone received there's in the mail yet.

EAD status update to card was produced. Hopefully, the card will be here in the next week or so.

We had a similar problem .... Except, a few minor differences.
First, we attempted to get a RealID.
First registration with CA DMV, no problem with Docs but didn't pass the test.
Second registration with CA DMV, passed test, but I-94 didn't have 60 days of validity left so couldn't continue
AND ... Since married name didn't have a middle name, Nevada didn't give wife her preferred married name so had to wait for CA Court to legally change the name.

THEN when we went back to SSA to change the name, they couldn't as there was less than 2 weeks (validity) left on the I-94 at that point.
So, now we have to wait for EAD before we can proceed with SSN and perhaps with RealID.

Silly

Hello, hope everyone here is doing well and making progress on AOS!

Just reaching out for some insight...we filed for AOS & EAD on 10/4 and our NOA1 for both was 10/23.

So far we haven't received any updates. Is this normal? Do I need to submit and inquiry? Some October couples have already had biometrics and/or received EAD at this point...

I check my case tracker every day hoping for movement, but nothing. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Hi there, welcome to the group. My NOA was the same day as yours. Basically, we got a letter in the mail with biometrics, but still have no online access code, and no other updates, the progress seems very variable, depending on which USCIS you are processing at. A few in this group got their EAD within a few days to weeks after fingerprinting; others like us are still waiting

It did take a while to actually "get" the letters and the account access code as well.
Check my timeline as I have very, very detailed notes when I got a notice of something and when it actually arrived via USPS.
Example: 09 Oct 2023 - Online Access Details (USPS) 23 Oct 2023
Yes, the "code letter" was dated "09 Oct" but not to house until "23 Oct" - Crazy

I had also heard a number of people as having success with "Ask Emma" to getting the online access code.
Best of luck with "Her" as I never seem to have a good conversation with her.

Online access does give a better way to see current state and even letters they send (much faster than USPS) but like with K-1, there is still plenty of "Why is it taking so long" and the "myProgress" seems to be about worthless

My AOS timeline for your reference:

2023-10-21 Package sent via UPS Next-Day-Air
2023-10-24 UPS delivered
2023-10-26 Check cashed
2023-10-27 Receipt numbers received via SMS + bio appt scheduled
2023-11-01 Online access code letter received (notice date 2023-10-27)
2023-11-02 Walk-in, got biometrics done earlier (scheduled on 2023-11-16)
2023-11-06 NOA1 + bio appt letters received (notice date 2023-10-27)

2023-11-28 Case was transferred to San Jose field office (via ask Emma)
2023-11-29 Request for additional evidence was sent (failed to answer Public Charge inadmissibility questions)
2023-11-30 Response to request for evidence was received (online submitted)

My advice would be ask Emma, I know it would probably take more than one attempt, cuz every Emma has a different personality 😂

I would keep asking until I get my answer with the right Emma. That's how I get to know the tracking number of my EAD, and AOS transfer date from NBC to FO....
