Lagos: Is K1 Visa Appointments Not Available?

Hey,

 

We received our Packet from the Lagos Consulate with instructions to schedule our interview, get medical and police reports. However, when trying to schedule an interview, there’s a question that asks:

 

”Does your Immigrant visa case number start with LGS2019, LGS2020, or LGS2021?”

 

Obviously, ours does not because this is 2023 and we just got our packet two weeks ago.

 

So we choose “No.”

 

After selecting this, a notice pops up which states: “Please note that at this point, you cannot proceed with scheduling your K visa appointment. Please wait to receive your notice that you are eligible to schedule your visa interview.”

 

I called the Embassy and they put me on hold and told me to send an email. I sent an email, and got an automated response which says,

 

”We understand that you would like to schedule an appointment for a K1 visa application.

 

Please note that at this point, you cannot proceed with scheduling your K1 visa appointment. Please wait to receive your notice that you are eligible to schedule your visa interview.”

 

What “notice” are they talking about? We received email instructions to proceed with our interview. But the website mentions “LGS2019, 2020, and 2021” — Does this mean the Embassy is backed up and only taking appointments from those years?
