Hate crime or free speech?

The very use of the term "hate crime" is itself an issue--as just about every crime of violence is done out of malice.

And who has ever heard of "love crimes"?

If I steal from you, doesn't mean I hate you - just means I care more about my own well-being.
stealing generally means item was taken when I wasn't there; you must mean "If I rob you...".

Crimes of passion?

Assisted suicide?

"Passion" is not equivalent to love. Not all passion is love.

No, it isn't. Robbing involves at least the threat of physical violence. Which is why burglary and robbery are treated as different crimes.

Sure. But sometimes it can be. No?

In context of the general point that Mawilson made (in response to another general point about crimes being about 'hate and malice') its exactly the same

Generally speaking, a person wouldn't rob you because they hate you - but because they want what you have and are rather indifferent to your feelings. They'd steal from you for much the same reason - not because they want to hurt you by doing it, but because they care more about themselves than about you - and are (again) indifferent to any injury their action might do to you.

disagree, you can be robbed with no violence..as in getting pick-pocketed..

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

The guy had no other choice. He had to keep his art in the bathroom. He doesn't want to be beheaded. Look at the sh!t-storm caused over a few cartoons in Denmark.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

A petty, (clearly malicious) criminal act is not 'art'.
