My husband has applied for his mom to immigrate to the US. She got her interview appointment, and in reading the process it states you must go to the embassy twice, once to drop off documents and second for the actual Interview. We got an asesoria migatoria to help my mother in law with preparations for her interview. This person is saying she doesn’t need to go to the embassy twice. Does anyone have any insight on this? If she only goes to her interview will it cause her issues? Has anyone recently gone through this with information?

thank you

Is the currently published info on the embassy’s website where you are seeing the two visit info?   If so, I’d defer to that as the official source.

I wondered though if that two visit practice could have been replaced by having people upload documents instead.

I recommend you ditch that asesoria migatoria, and comply with the official instructions from the embassy.  San Salvador is one of the consulates that require a visit for biometrics and document screening separate from and prior to the appointment for visa interview.  So yes, your mother must visit the embassy at least twice, as her fingerprints will be collected at the first visit.  If she does not complete biometrics collection and document review before her scheduled interview, it may delay her case as she may be required to reschedule her interview appointment.  This is spelled out in the published instructions from the embassy -- https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/SNS-San-Salvador.html
