When to Start the I-130 process? Ford a Dec. 2025 move

Hello,

 

Currently my wife and I live and work in Europe. We want to move to the US exactly in December 2025 due to some Projects that will be finished in such Date, exactly.

 

When shall we submit the I-130? 

 

What could happen when we receive the Immigration visa much before our desired time December 2025?

 

The 6 month time period to enter into the USA can be extended?

I would file it now as it can take up to 2 years to process.  If the processing time moves faster, you can delay things at the NVC stage to work better with your timeline.  Also, even if the spousal visa is issued in say 18-20 months, it will have a six month validity from the time of the medical exam which also gives you timing flexibility if you file now.

Correct...AND if things go faster than anticipated, you can delay at NVC stage.  No, you cannot extend the expiration date of the visa.

I agree, trying to extend the validity period of the visa would be a difficult, and fruitless effort.
