Birth certificate only has one name

I'm a UK citizen, lived in the UK all my life but was born abroad in Pakistan.

My original Pakistani birth certificate only lists my father's name - from what I understand that was common back then. I believe newer certificates have both parents' names but obtaining a new birth certificate would be a nightmare to say the least.

I have my parents' marriage certificate to prove that they were married at the time. Is this sufficient?

Only the CO that will adjudicate your case will be able to tell you for certain.  In the meantime, are you able to obtain any of the alternate or supporting documents listed here, under "Birth Certificates" -- https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Pakistan.html

Your birth certificate is your birth certificate.  It shows YOUR name and your father's name, not just your father's name, right?

Possibly thanks, it would be a FRC (Family Registration Certificate) I'd need which would require a fair bit of leg work to obtain but might be doable.

According to the link above:

Quote

Birth certificates issued by local Union Councils, Municipal Corporations, the Office of the Cantonment Board, or the CDA are acceptable, as are Family Registration Certificates (FRC) issued by NADRA.  In larger cities, such as Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi etc., Municipal Corporation-issued birth certificates prior to 2001 are also acceptable.

My certificate is issued by the Municipal Corporation of one of the above cities so in theory it should be acceptable if the officer reviewing my case is willing to accept my certificate as-is.

That's correct, my name, my father's name, place of birth, gender and of course date.
