Can anyone please chime in and guide me through the following scenario:

If a sibling of the IR1 beneficiary overstays their US Visit Visa and/or crosses border and goes to canada to seek asylum there, will this decision/process cause any issue for the beneficiary of IR1 who is waiting for their spousal visa while all this happens?

Looking forward to your expertise on this matter as well:

Topics moved to IR1/CR1 spousal visa forum as the question is about effect on IR1 process.

One is not responsible for the actions of others, especially ones that are out of their control. I do not see any negative effects on the IR1 that may arise from this.

I agree with @powerpuff.  Good luck on your journey.

Unless the person has valid proof to support a claim of asylum,  the Canadian border patrol will turn him back to US

CBP in US will see the I 94 info and the overstay and can return him to home country

in other words "don't be with him at the border"
