Confusion Creating Login for CEAC - K-1 Visa Applicant

Hello Everyone,

 

After 20 months, my fiancé finally had her K-1 visa interview at the embassy in Manila, Philippines on October 3.  The bad news is, because of an oversite on my part, we were missing a document and she was given a 221g.  The counselor told her not to worry, that as soon as they got the required document, we visa would most likely be approved.   The 221g letter listed the single document required (which we have) along with instructions about how to submit the document along with the required forms and her passport.  All that was self explanatory.  The issue we are having is, the letter said to BOTH submit the document on CEAC (followed by sending hardcopy via courier) AND to just send the documents in (no scan and upload) via courier. 

 

I have attached a copy of the 221g she received for reference.

 

The issue is, for a K-1 visa, I have never been able to create a personal account to "login" to. I've tried many times.   We were only able to do our DS-160 there and to check our case status.  When I go to the https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx page, enter our case number and invoice ID number, all we get on the next page is: 

 

"K visas are nonimmigrant visas that assist spouses or future spouses of American citizens in entering the United States. As with all nonimmigrant visa applicants, a DS-160 must be filled out in order for a consular section to process the case."  The only option is to click the "OK" button which simply takes you back to the login page.  Of course the DS-160 has been finished for a while, and there was no issue at the interview when it was examined.

 

So my question is, is there a special place for K-1 visa applicants to access and upload documents to CEAC?

It seems to me that the first option is suitable for spouse visas, which create an account on CEAC and upload all documents online.

What a nightmare.

 

I have an impossible dream.

 

My dream is the next Secretary of State is the spouse of a K-1, or held a K-1, and orders DoS to treat K-1 as a non immigrant visa as Congress intended.

 

I am sorry that I have nothing to offer other than to send the requested materials physically to the embassy, and contact the embassy and CEAC daily asking for how to resolve the technical problem.

No.  I suspect the CO just made a mistake checking the box for upload.  I recommend you keep a scan of your documents, then send the originals following the instructions for 221(g) submission at the ustraveldocs portal.  Then send an email to USEM via their inquiry form, to verify that no CEAC upload is required for your K1 case -- https://ph.usembassy.gov/contact-us-visas/

Well that's what I had thought also.  Several times throughout our visa journey we have gotten contradictory instructions.  For example, many different times we were told to "fill out the DS-260" even though we are a K-1 Visa.

Well that's what I told my fiancé.  However, she is on a K-1 visa group on Facebook and has friends that had interviews that same week in Manila, and the 2 women that got 221g's also had BOTH boxes checked!  So that made me panic a little, even though based on my research, I see no way for a K-1 to upload anything via CEAC.

Hahahaha well believe me, I know all about that.  The ONLY arguments we ever seem to have, is because during this whole process, she is constantly second guessing my every move because, "my cousin said this", "my friend and her fiancé did it like this", "a girl I met a SLEC said it would be like that".   The after she freaks out, it's revealed that the cousin was a CR1, the friend was a B2, and the SLEC girl was a H-1!!    I keep reminding her that our case is different.  All cases are different!    She agrees and settles down..then 3 days later it all starts up again...the rumors....the fears....all of it.  So it's been a roller coaster on that front for sure!

Wouldn't that be a dream come true?!   We did actually already send the requested document via their approved courier, but just wanted to make sure that if there was a way for a K-1 to upload doc, that I did that also.  From what I've seen though it's not possible.

Hahaha, not just social media, it's all their neighbors and friends too. I have termed it "they said". My wife will tell me something ridiculous and I will ask her where she heard that. She will say "they said". I told her I would love to write a book of all of the "they saids" I have heard.

oh I've handled everything for the most part....but even though I am handling it, she constantly thinks there's a better way because of something "they said" haha
