Consulate visits my wife at home.

Ok last week the 25th my wife had her interview she was told that her case needed to be read over more. Well today the consulate visits her home in chepo that is two hours from panama city and she wasn't home. My stepson was home with her mother and the asked more questions about me. They knew all the answers to what they asked but it seem strange to me I have never read anywhere that they could visit and question minors i guess they can if they want to but i just wanted to see if anyone has had this experience.

I can honestly say that I have never heard of anyone being visited at home after their interview.

Thank you for your kind words. It's such a nightmare with this process it really needs an overhaul with todays technology and relationships start from a wider area than just in the U.S.

I've seen this only once. It was in China. They had a hard road to travel but eventually prevailed.

See if any of the following apply. One or both of your is recently divorced. Your income is not stellar. Her's is pretty good for her country.

Doesn't happen that often but investigation teams from the embassy question neighbors and family of beneficiaries at their homes in the Philippines also.

May be standard practice world wide in questionable cases.

Probably a good idea to be sure and visit the benes home where ever it may be when you are there.

She does have a son the father never married and she has custody papers and he said he would not contest him living in the U.S. My income is well above the guidelines. The only thing i can think of is she said they asked why we married so soon after we met. I guess they want to make sure we have a legit relationship. I Included many emails, phone records My auto insurance thats in both our names money gram receipts where i send her and my stepson money and many photos before and after we married. I don't see what the big deal is i guess there are many fraud marriages they have to deal with. My parents met and married in less the a month and have been together for 41 years. It's all making me a little crazy...

Nothing new here! HCMC is known for sending the investigate team to the beneficiary's hometown and neighborhood for "verification" purpose when in doubt about the case, before they reach the final approval!

It's hard to say why then and you may never know. Something about the case triggered this but it could be a case of mistaken identity or something as simple as poor choice of words in an interview question response.

My husband had a field investigation as well and it is very common for his consulate to have someone contact the family, job, friends, etc and do a background check. At least look at this that they are actively working on your case. My advice is to be patient and hopefully they will contact your wife shortly and be ready to proceed with her visa processing. There is no timeline for them to finish up their background checks that is why I am saying to be patient and you and your wife continue to have contact and keep phone records, chats, etc in case they ask for current data from you both. My husband and I agreed not to discuss this visa processing daily and I contacted DOS once a week for an update on our case and they always said it was in processing until one day the operator said a letter had been sent to my husband but they would not tell me anything and we had to wait on the letter. It was a letter to come back with his passport and they kept it and issued the visa via courrier within days.

Ok I got more information from the consulate in Panama. I e mailed them a week ago for more information. Well I emailed them Friday saying i need to know what is going on with my case. I basically hinted that i was going to take further actioon on my case. Well i got an email back from them within an hour apologizing that they didn't explain them selfs fully to my wife. The gave her no notice of any kind just that they needed to read over the papers and check into them further. Well the email says they are waiting on security checks to come back and they will contact my wife when they finish. They took her and my step sons passports on the day of the interview. so I hope the security checks are all they are waiting on..
