emailed them both to myself..

and this business week article I sent to my fiance (USC) cuz we've been having *discussions* as of late about the whole thing because every once in a while, his very bush-pro, republican family (all BUT him, thank god) get forwards about illegals/immigrants in the form of humour, or just plain articles that they send out to everyone (not realizing that some might be sensitive about the topic...

my fiance and i are obviously much more liberal on the topic.. so we had a bit of a fight about it a few weeks ago..

I was like, "why would your mom & ur sister send that?!"

Him: I don't think it was directed at you love, they're just really conservative like that and don't realize that other ppl don't agree with that....

Me: but the article talked about how immigrants are taking all jobs of good-hardworking americans ...............etc...

(turned into a fight because he then felt like i was attacking his family after a few more questions cuz he got frustrated and couldn't come up with any more explanations...)

Later he actually confronted his sister on it.. saying "you do realize that Liz, my wife to be, will be an immigrant when she comes here.. and will stay that way for 3 yrs... and her parents and her came to canada as immigrants also... and obviously now are citizens.. but have a history of moving as immigrants for a few decades... it's just how the world works in some parts. Her parents, from India, immigrated to the Middle East, settled there for 20+ yrs, then decided to move cuz she was a catholic girl in an arab country and would have difficutly getting into universities and finding a life for herself.. so when she was 13, they moved to Canada, have been citizens for years now.. and now she's moving for me."

She said that even though the article didn't use the word "illegals", that's what was implied, well, at least that's what she got from it.. and of course she wants Liz to move to the States.. she wants her to be her SIL too! and that he shouldn't jump to such accusations saying that she thinks otherwise!~!
