I just find it interesting, really interesting, that smoke20 who is so obsessively checking and deducing everywhere he goes so as not to inadvertently support an illegal alien!!!111!! is actually able to get anything done. I mean by the time you've chatted up the wait staff, checked the kitchen, and interrogated the managers do you still have an appetite? I hope you never come to my Applebee's because, despite the fact that all of us servers and front of house staff are all clearly American, we got illegals working in the kitchen! Heaven forbid you order that Shrimp and Parmesan Sirloin lest your steak be tainted by illegal hands and a portion of your $15 go into an illegal pocket. Seriously, the dumbest ###### I've ever read and I can honestly say I've never actually seen....ANYONE doing anything like what you've said you do pretty much every place you go. Then you tried to explain it away-ohhh, I CONJECTURE with my DEDUCTIVE reasoning. Yeah nice try.

I was hoping you'd be along soon. I was beginning to think Liz and I were in it by ourselves.

i didn't "try" to explain anything away. i stated my opinion & the fact that i do everything i can to make sure, i don't support illeagal immigrants in anyway. now if you like it or not its a fact. and i don't care if you like it.

I can't align myself completely with either side on this issue. If I look at it as a person to person issue, I have more openness about the whole thing and wanting people to have a better life. I know why they want to be here and I do sympathize with that.

But if I look at it nationally, I get very irked knowing the process we had to go through for Sujeet to be here, knowing how hard it would be for his family to get tourist visas to visit us here, and that they may never come here...and then multiplying that by how many other families are going through the same thing on VJ and elsewhere. And as for them adding to economy I guess so though the pockets that usually benefit the most are CEOs.

Then knowing that some people didn't give a care about the rules and snuck over and then don't ever get caught. And I bet if any of us has our relatives try to sneak over they'd ironically be caught and deported and banned for attempting such a thing. Like one of those situations where a certain kid always seems to get away with something at school so one day you decide to try to get away with it, but you are the one immediately caught. But then others already here illegally could get amnesty, I just don't know about that. So I am torn and can't agree fully with either side.

How does working in a place make that places food any better? The last time we went to Applebees, the food was nothing but salty. When we queried the manager about that we were informed that the food arrives there pre-seasoned and that there's not much they can do about that. So, we've since done something about that: we quit frequenting the restaurant since they obviosuly can't cook.

yah, i was married to a hispanic at one time. but, i still didn't attack people or call them racist for having an opinion i didn't like. nor do i constantly restate a question after someone answers the question i asked.

Dude, that's the thing. She didn't call him racist and neither did I. He's the one that pulled out the racist card. We're just trying to understand how he can come to the conclusion that someone is illegal or not by looking/listening to them. Apparently we are missing something here. And, as for him answering my question, he never did. He's welcome to his opinion. Heck, that's what makes the world the place it is. People have different opinions on things. I'm glad they do. But when you are called out on a statement you make, be prepared to back it up. That's all. He hasn't. BTW, that's my opinion.

And how exactly do you determine if they are in fact illegals? Do you ask them for their green card?

Or just by the color of their skin?
