How likely is it for marriage green card to be approved before 2026?

So in January we submitted the green card application. Recently we got approved for the travel document. Still waiting for EAD. Called a customer service person and they said 2026 was the latest that we can expect the green card will be approved. Obviously we need it approved before then. Don't have social security number which we missed the window to apply for when I first got here. Have they really been taking this long for marriage green cards? I understand non marriage green cards but I expected them to be quicker with reviewing marriage green cards.

Worst case scenario you can file a WoM after say a year.

EAD will allow you to apply for SSN

marriage green card would have been  the I 130  spouse visa

u are doing AOS after marriage on  a K1 and this is a much longer process

Wait... what?? I never knew this. I thought the AOS was the same as the marriage green card and I didn't think the process was this much longer. I did so much research beforehand and still it seems like I chose the wrong option.

K is much longer, if you enter on a Spouse visa you do not have anything to adjust.

Why does it take so long for status to be adjusted? What exactly goes into the adjustment of one's status?

It does not take long

Just sits in a pile for a long time like everything else.

A lonnngggggg line of people ahead of you in the queue.  Ours took 14 months in 2018/19.  ROC took even longer, 18 months.

This is why we always recommend to new members here that CR-1 is the way to go.  People get stuck on historical petition processing times, failing to realize that is only one step in a very long process.

Then you did your research in the wrong place/places. It's never been a secret about the timeline of each process.

Immediate family of U.S. citizens are the highest priority family based I-485s.

I would expect marriage based  I-485s to take longer than I-485s filed by parents of U.S. citizens, or unmarried children of U.S. citizens, at least when the U.S. citizen or child  were born in wedlock. In those two cases, bonafide relationship evidence is rarely requested beyond birth and marriage certificates.  The decision is largely deterministic.

Whereas marriage based I-485s require a subjective decision as to whether a bonafide relationship exists.

IMO, over 10 percent of the time, it does not exist.  Mostly it is because one spouse believes there is a bonafide relationship, and the other spouse has no intention of behaving as they did before I-485 was approved.

USCIS knows they approve marriage based I-485s from con artists each day, and it wants to improve. So slower approvals.

That said, our CR-1 just became an IR-1 because we've now been married two years. It's been 724 days since our priority date.  Everything had delays.  Original interview was in April. Had to do sputum testing which took 4 months. Now, after having been told she was approved, it's under Administrative review going on 50 days.  At this rate we'll make the Guinness  Book of World Records pretty soon.

I'm not acting like it was... it's just that sometimes the process for a lot of immigration stuff can be a little bit confusing/complicated. I think most people can agree with me on that
