Hey, guys so I’m a US citizen and my husband is Moroccan. He recently has his interview and they told him that everything was good except that they needed my original divorce papers, original translations and my previous marriage certificates. Has anybody else been asked to provide those for the interview?

My wife was told that (well not the old marriage certificate) in Brazil,  had to send them the certified copy of my divorce paperwork from California.

US Consulate in Morocco is now asking for previous marriage certificates at the interview.

I guess they had some complicated cases that they made it a standard for all previous married couples (USC and applicant).

Yes,  triggered by a Mroccan who was married in US and then married again in Moroc and applied for CBRA for his child

Never divorced USC

Security check on him did catch up

i suspect the notice said "ALL"  previous marriage certificates to  check dates and compare with divorce papers

How is it regulated by law, if Moroccans  get married in the US, and reside  in the US with dual citizenship, do they have to record their marriages in Morocco? And any subsequent changes?

we are not allowed to have 2 legal marriages at the same time in USA and no we don't report to another country

its  legal in Moroc and No,  the country Moroc does not have to report it

and the embassy is not required either to report / they are not the police

but the state he lived in has laws and I don't know who turned him in but he wanted to bring child from  2nd marriage here to 1st wife/ i would imagine she had some issues

Casablanca embassy added this to list of required documents  shortly after the man posted here about the 2nd marriage and CBRA for his child

  • If you have ever been married:  An original marriage certificate for each marriage, a certified English translation, and a photocopy of each certificate.  For any marriages that have been terminated by death, divorce, or dissolution, please provide an original or certified copy of the death, divorce, or dissolution certificate, a certified English translation, and a photocopy of each certificate.

Makes sense. In Bosnia and Herzegovina,  you cannot have Nikah, if you do not present the  civil marriage certificate, for exact same reasons.

My husband's visa was finally issued today after exactly one month of waiting. The status changed from refused to ready and to AP on October 24th, and today it changed to issued. Alhamdulilah the wait is finally over.
