Trudeau and the Waffen SS

I thought this was a fascinating story. Now obviously there were Ukrainian Partisans who fought the Germans, fought the Russians and fought both, it was tricky situation.

 

But this guy joined the Waffen SS, now as far as I am aware the Galacian Division never fought on the Western front, so not against Canadians and surrendered in Austria, but really?

There seems a lot of backtracking and diving for cover going on.

 

I am intrigued as to what he was doing there, not an obvious thing for a 98 year old to do on a day out.

 

I still can not get my head around how someone did not do a two second mental check.

To be fair, the young Ukrainians in the 1930's were really in a no win situation.  Join the Russians after what Stalin did do starve Ukraine, or join the Germans also headed by a madman.  That being said, the optics by the Trudeau government is atrocious.

I agree, the situation was messy. Devil and the Deep Blue Sea.

 

I looked him up and I certainly can not be certain this is true but appears he was actually born in then Poland which became Ukraine after he left He joined in 1943 say when he was 18, I am going to guess he missed the early actions when they were pretty much wiped out.

And now it seems the Poles want to extradite him, I assume he is a Polish citizen by birth.

Hmm, so Zelenskyy was also celebrating, and Trudeau is trying to gaslight everyone by claiming it is all Russian propaganda.  The Canadian government is becoming a laughingstock on par with the Biden Administration.  Progress.

The Ukrainians (and Lithuanians) were even more brutal than the Nazis were toward the Jews.  Reported to me by one who experienced and observed it.
