Iranians will certainly go into AP

Possibly relevant:

https://www.am22tech.com/h1b-visa-interview-approved-online-status-administrative-processing/

Admin processing is the normal status and could mean multiple things with or without form 221(g) including:

  • You work in Biotechnology, the Chemical field, or restricted Technologies.

While the link is about H-1B, it would not surprise me these considerations apply to immigration visas

Saeid, can you give me more details of your case and situation if it’s ok. Were you also served in mandatory military service? And how long did your AP last? And you were approved? Thank You

You can see @Saeid’s timeline here. They’re still in AP. https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=444167

I am an Iranian who resides in Italy as a permanent residence and have been living in Italy more than 5 years now. In Iran I had to serve mandatory military service like almost every male. when I went for an interview for my K1 visa, I was told that my case needed to undergo AP. A week later they emailed me to fill out a Supplemental form, asking for my travel history and address history and education. A week later they requested more information about my Mandatory Military service card. Has anyone experienced this type of AP as an Iranian applied for K1?

I'm the petitioner and my fiance has been living in France for more than 6 years, she is Iranian but a France permanent resident! She or either of her family members had nothing to do with military or government. All her degrees (BS,M.S. and PHD) are in French literature. She had interview a month ago and after the interview, officer kept her passport and had her to scan and email DS5535 and her resume. She emailed the form and right after that embassy replied that case went under AP. We are waiting since then and they still have her passport.

All I found out is whoever traveled to Iran in past 15 years, will go under AP and processing time is vary in each Embassy.

AP is normal for everyone, AP for Iranians seems to take longer, no doubt it is much more difficult carrying out checks.
