Yes, the use of the unofficial "thru" for the correct "through" is very common in North America; the difference is that many Yanks actually think that "thru" is the correct spelling unlike Canucks. :lol:

Papads (made from dried urad flour generally) are very easy to roast (if you have an exposed-flame type stove--won't work on electric) or nuke. They're edible (albeit, NOT as tasty as when deep-fried) this way.

I guess it may not work then for the taco/tostada shells.

Hmm. Depends on how you like them to come out, but I usually heat them in a frying pan until they get soft. To be fair, you could do them over an open flame, but again, depends on what final texture you're after. I like them for rolling things up in, so they should be pliable.

Speaking of papadum-like things, I just got a bag of papadum crisps at Trader Joe's. I picked the Tandoori Masala flavor, but they also had a yogurt and dill. Calorie friendly and happily spicy on the palate! (they're about the size of a potato chip& fava bean flour is the #2 ingredient)
