Hello, I'm submitting the I-130 form online for my husband. We filled everything in the portal and we need to upload I-130A for him.

We need to write additional info on the last page (Part 9. Additional Information)
At the top of this page, we need to write his name but the form doesn't let us.
I tried different browsers, adobe reader etc. I attached the screenshot. I cannot type or add text to this field.
Form: https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-130.pdf
As you can see in the screenshot, we cannot type FAMILY NAME, GIVEN NAME and MIDDLE NAME.

Can you please tell me what I need to do?
Does everyone print, fill and scan this?
I don't want to leave this info(name) empty but i don't know how.

any help is appreciated.

We left the name fields blank on that page, even if we did have additional info for item 3.  Our petition was approved, no RFE.

If it really bothers you, print the page and hand-write on those fields, then scan it back to PDF.

thank you, i am just afraid they may send us RFE or even deny because of this. Especially it is a name field.

I wonder if an officer can find this a problem.

You are probably using something other than Adobe Acrobat Reader to fill the form.  When opened in Adobe Acrobat Reader those fields automatically populate with whatever you answered in 3.a 3.b 3.c.  Most likely whatever pdf viewer you are using is not compatible with that pdf function.

i downloded Adobe Acrobat Reader and it didn't work.

can you please give me link to "Adobe Acrobat Reader" ? and show which software you mention?

I just double checked on mine with a freshly downloaded I-130A.  Anything typed into Part 1, 3.a 3.b and 3.c instantly auto fills Part 7, 1.a 1.b and 1.c.  Thus those fields are not writable otherwise because they are only auto filled.  I'm using Acrobat full version but Acrobat Reader should definitely work the same.  Whatever the reason, the it's the failure of the autofill function that is why the fields are unwritable.

edit to add.  I should have been more specific about which 3.a 3.b and 3.c.   It gets its values from whatever is imputed in Part 1, 3.a 3.b and 3.c on page 1.

It really does work, but it will populate the data from earlier entered data.  You cannot type in those fields.  Let them populate.  https://get.adobe.com/reader/

This really worked for me too, thanks :)

For me, it didnt' work with the free version. I had to get Adobe Acrobat Pro. I'm not sure if I did something wrong, or if the pro version is really needed. Luckily, there's a free trial. After that you can just get the document into your favorite PDF reader that you want.
