What reason is that? There is already a July thread & there is an August trhead already!!!

I think the point is to keep track of those people who managed to squeeze in just before the fee increase but fit in either the July or August topics... Since the July topic's cut-off date was July 25, some people (like me) were kindly sent to the August topic instead (meaning we're kinda split between two topics), but this here topic may help gather people who may have a difference "experience" of the whole process due to the hypothetical but likely surge in applications that USCIS may have received toward the end of July.

But hey, I don't really care. The mods can decide what to do.

I had a question...what kind of receipt do we get after filing? Is this something that we can check online? Or do we get it by mail? Also, what is the usual time before getting a receipt....I know this time may be different because of the overload of July filers, but just wanted to get an idea...

Until now: about 9 days after the package is receive in Chicago a NOA is edited, it's currently taking a bit longer for USCIS to get it in the mail, so it's hard to tell how long it will be until you get it in your mail box. If you check the July filer thread you can give yourself a fairly good idea.

The recipe you get is a NOA or notice of action. It looks like that: http://www.visajourney.com/gallery/display...bum=4&pos=1 (that's the K1 paper but it looks just the same).

As far as checking online, it depends: some people are able to check it as soon as they have the receipt number from their NOA, for other they have to wait and wait and wait until USCIS has time to update their info (I still can't access my online info).

We should add a column that describes whether our cases are online yet or not. For example, my EAD has been added to my portfolio online, but my AP still isn't working. It would be interesting to see how prevalent this problem is.

We can not find our case on-line until we get NOA1.

I agree with Gabacha. I am concerned about the fee increase creating a backlog, and I'm betting that the people who filed at the end of July are going to have a different timeline than the people who filed at beginning of July, where processing/check cashing probably went much quicker. I want to hear specifically from others in this same situation.

If you want this to be efficient you should also add the date it was received in Chicago as some people have it received the same day and for others it takes a week. Take into consideration that it's only when the package is received that USCIS can start working on it.

In most July timelines you'll see that the NOA date is around 10 days from the time it was received in Chicago so you shouldn't expect much yet.

You should add "Date Check Cashed" too.
