Ok. But for those who do relate and wish to contribute, should they be 'shooed' off?

I didn't really read the entire thread so don't know exactly what is going on. It looked like someone complained/commented about this being a duplicate type thread, then someone else said if you don't like it don't read it (which is pretty ironic ). Then I saw your Q and just wanted to offer an answer :):):) (because I like those kinds of questions).

I think everyone is pretty much responsible for what they say, so it all works out in the end. I personally don't think someone making a comment, a suggestion , a critical type question or just commenting should be shooed off.

Thanks, jane.

Those of us who are at different stages can offer a different view.

It is my view that this is a duplicate thread of what I consider to be an unnecessary first thread. I'd love to see members stop the practice of creating 'monthly filer' threads. I believe it defeats the purpose of encouraging each other because it creates false isolation.

And - as one looking from the outside in - I think it's going to be MUCH more interesting to see what happens a year from now with those who rushed to beat the fee deadline. How many will still be left behind? How many will have to file for renewal EAD's at the much higher rate? One EAD renewal defeats the purpose of filing to beat the increase, because the new package includes interim benefits.

Meh - those were all personal financial decisions everyone had to weigh privately. It doesn't affect me personally but I still find the reading interesting and enlightening.

I guess the thing that blows my mind about AOS these days is the way people seem to approach it as if it were a game or gamble to be played. There used to be the big debate over whether or not to file for EAD because of the trend for faster greencards. Not to mention overanalyzing whether or not your District Office is one of the backlogged ones, thus increasing the odds of a CSC transfer.

So here's my perspective. As the USC spouse of a man who sat in FBI namecheck for 17 months, I view adjustment of status as a much more serious matter than calculating the odds of file transfers or keeping track of postmark dates. I was unconcerned with how FAST my husband could be issued the document that grants him the priveleges of permanent residency. I was more concerned with whether or not my government was going to issue it to him at all. I have NEVER believed that because I paid a fee to DHS that I was entitled to their blessing. I've been ever mindful that just because I chose to love a man from another country, I have no 'inalienable right' to bring him into this country to live.

Here is a post from someone who just recently received their GC before receiving any EAD.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...t&p=1144146

hello everyone...

i just got my green card..my question is can i get a job now?and is the temporary green card can allow me to work? or do i need another authorization? coz i applied for an employment authorization card but i have not receive it..

anyone who can give me the best answer in the world.I will appreciate it...thanks a lot

If that happened to me, you bet I'd be pretty pissed.

In our case, we filed for AOS and AOS only. No EAD or AP. My wife is in no rush for any of that stuff. I'll be happy with AOS within 6 months, but realistically it's looking like 3 months for most people who filed recently. I understand and can appreciate that some cases can take several years because of FBI checks, but by and large, the vast majority of recent filers have been speedily processed through within 3-6 months. With the recent fee increase, I don't foresee that time frame changing for the longer. Again, that's a statistical average. On an individual level, a specific case could take years to approve. Everyone needs to realize this.

For us, filing before the fee increase is a HUGE savings, as we never intended to apply for EAD or AP in the first place. The talk of the elimination of the annual renewal fee for EAD is moot for us.

If you're not planning on working, then of course EAD is of no consequence.

Sir Lancelot, none of what you say above is wrong, incorrect or even silly. Greencards are being issued a LOT faster than they used to.

I just look at immigration differently than most people on this website. I simply don't expect my governmet to hand over the right to live in this country to just anybody. Plus I'm from a generation that doesn't feel anybody owes me one damn thing. It doesn't mean squat to me if I pay a fee to the government for a service - I'm enough of both pessimist and realist to understand that doesn't entitle me to anything more than clerical processing. Which means - they can push my papers through, but they aren't beholden to spit them out with the result I'm hoping for.

God forbid that any of you spend the length of time my husband did waiting for his greencard. I hope it won't take that kind of aggravation, upset, and occasional days of bone-chilling fear to realize the signifigance it holds. It's not something you GET because you paid a fee. It's something you ARE GIVEN by this country because you passed muster.

What's the big deal? I really don't care who starts what topic. I sometimes see a person post the same topic 6 times - I don't care! Let these people have their own thread. If you don't feel it is important or even relevant, don't read it. Geez, this is ridiculous.

And I have to agree that the people in this thread are in a different scenario than the regular July filers. Some of the others can't relate because they are in a different situation.

As one of the apparent 'denizens', I still fail to understand why the July filers thread can't be used for the same purpose? Are there not end of July people in there who you can talk with/compare timelines?

I'm just wondering if it's impossible to relate to a person lying bleeding in the road if one also doesn't happen to be lying bleeding in the road at the exact same time.

The short answer is no, it is not impossible - but not everyone is going to relate. Some people might even lean over and rob the guy, not feel a twinge of guilt (let alone relate) and walk off leaving the guy to bleed to death.

Ok. But for those who do relate and wish to contribute, should they be 'shooed' off?

Yes, if they are annoying.

With the new fee structure, it makes sense to file EAD and AP anyway since they're included in the price of the green card if you file at the same time.

That is true, given the new few structure. I think it's BS that USCIS doesn't automatically issue EAD and AP to all, even those who don't overtly request them. They've already paid for the other documents afterall.

Seeing that there are still so many waiting for NOA and cashed checks makes me feel a little better that our paperwork is not lost. Hopefully they will get caught up sooner rather than later.

Ditto  I've expected that it will take longer for our checks to be cashed thinking that there must be thousands of applications that came in on the 30th of July and we're one of them. But we're hoping and praying that they will speed things up. I'm sure USCIS expected this to happen so hopefully, they have a way to resolve it.

Why????

They took a chance that the GC would not happen right away so they covered their bases by applying for EAD as well.

Yeah, being pissed over it doesn't make a lot of sense... you'd be pissed because everything came through FASTER and made the EAD redundant? That we should all have such problems.
