If you are a permanent or conditional resident who has remained outside of the United States for longer than one year, or beyond the validity period of a Re-entry Permit, due to circumstances beyond your control, you will require a new immigrant visa to re-enter to the United States to resume permanent residence

In practice the above is rarely true.

Hello again,

So, you guys don't think that any immigration or CBP at your port entry will not have access to the records of all entries and exits under your name? I thought as a green card holder you have to maintain your residency.

You see, the thing it's not up to CBP to revoke your permanent resident status. It's up to a judge or the individual themselves. Whether they have records or not, all they can do worse case scenario is to refer you to an immigration judge. We see these cases a lot here lately and they've all returned safely.

Also, you thought right and we advocate for people to maintain their residency. However, the process of actually losing one's LPR status requires due process which will be up to the courts. But then again, situations like op's hardly get to that point.

Of course they will.
