Here is the screenshot. My wife is NOT in the USA. She WAS for a while and she left. She has I-94 record, date of entry but she doesn't have expiry date of stay. She has class of admission as F1.

Paper form says "fill these fields if she is in the usa" but online form doesn't have this instructions.

I left these empty even though I answered the question "was the beneficiary ever been in the usa" as "yes"

do you think this will be a problem? I just don't want to fill these best of my knowledge and make them think my wife is in the usa.

Or leave it blank and make it look like i didn't answer questions.

I just want this process to go easy without delays. Again your help is appreciated. any thoughts?

Is it ok if I leave these fields empty?

Thank you both for helping.

None of this makes any sense to me.

1. if a beneficiary has a green card, then why would one file I-130

2. While I would need to see the previous screen that led you here, I think it is also time to get on with your filing.

I am convinced: online I-130 is not ready for prime time for your situation; and I recommend paper filing for your case.

hi mike, i'm confused why you recommended paper filing for "my case".

this screen and online application(with these instructions/visuals) is used by everyone else. Everyone sees this screen. i am not sure why you recommend paper filling for my case only.

I do agree with you on your point #1. It makes 0 sense. they literally assumed beneficiary had green card in the screen and it doesn't make sense. but this is shown to everyone, isn't it?

i'm not seeing a special screen for me?

@Dashinka and @pushbrk do you please have thoughts on this? is this a reason for only me to cancel online filing?

Am I the only one seeing this green card visuals?

Even people whose beneficiary has never been to the U.S.?

For people whose beneficiary is still in the U.S., the screen makes sense.

For you it makes no sense.

So paper file, as PDF I-130 is designed correctly.

As a computer programmer, when I encounter software this faulty, I refuse to use it, because the ice berg rule applies.

I ALWAYS recommend paper filing, because of this and other glitches in the online filing process.  But, if you want to just leave those spaces blank, that will be fine too.

We got the same questions when filling out the I-130 online.  I already posted what we did to complete the web form and that our petition (filed online) was approved without any issue.

i just saw your reply. thanks.

i'm doing the same thing you did. can you please confirm if i got it right?

I answered "if you ever been to usa" question as "yes"

then entered "beneficiary is not in USA" in "I94 FIELD"

and left all other fields( "date of arrival", "expiration of authorized stay") empty.

right?
