Should my Fiance write her letter of intent & love story in English or native language?

Hi All,

 

To give a little more detail on the question, my fiancé can read and speak English at a very basic level. I just want to know if there are better chances of approval if she writes in her native language, and then have a certified translator, or save the money and write it in English. Also, if we do submit it via the language of her choosing, would it affect the interview process at the consulate regarding language spoken?

The letter of intent needs to be in English, for USCIS's purposes.  You can send her the text, she prints it, signs it, and scans it back to you.

 

At the consular interview, she'll have the option of interviewing in her native language, if she's interviewing in one of the languages prevalent in the country where she's interviewing (e.g., Algeria = French or Arabic).

If she's writing her love story, anyone proficient in that language can translate it and accompany the translation with the "translator's certificate" (template available here on VJ).  You may even do it.

There is no “love story” requirement.   It’s simply a statement of intent to marry the other person.

This is true.  The letter of intent is a stand-alone document, and required.

Depending on how tough the consulate is plus other factors, you might opt to include something like a relationship timeline in the I-129F petition package.
