No way of knowing for sure, but theoretically you can strengthen the case like this. I don't think it speeds up anything.

There’s a separate thread about it here:

 

Rather than trying to speed anything up, we are approaching it more as a way to continue to provide evidence that we accumulate between the time of the initial filing and whenever USCIS makes a decision on the case.

 

My personal opinion is that it can’t hurt and might help, and I’m willing to put in the time necessary for that. Your mileage may vary.

Since this removal of conditions has become boring, here is something I saw posted in a Facebook group to spice it up. (not us) While the listed timeline follows our own by about a week, there is no such activity in our case.  My wife remains at "Being Actively Reviewed" since October 2, 2023 a few hours after biometrics was completed at the ASC.  My stepdaughter remains at "Case was Received and a Receipt Notice Was Sent" since September 8, 2023.

Hi everyone, I didn't see august 2023 for I-751 so I came on this one. I got my extension letter August 15 2023, for 48 months. My GC expired February 2023. I'm planning on traveling to Spain for 2 weeks in July this year. Did anybody have experience going outside US with the extension letter and expired GC

Yes there's a whole thread about it:

 

I personally travelled 4 or 5 times internationally during I-751. 

 

You need to ensure you have:

- Valid passport with enough pages and enough validity, depending on the country you're going to. Some countries require 2 blank pages and 6 months validity remaining as a minimum.

- Expired conditional GC

- Valid 48 months extension letter.

 

 

You will need to arrive to airport early when heading back to the US. For the most part airline personnel know what extension letter is, but some do not know and you have to explain / talk to their supervisor.

I'm absolutely stunned.  Wife and stepdaughter both approved today and status is now "Card is Being Produced".  I have no explanation and there are no special circumstances that could explain the fast approval.  No interview.

 

Timeline

Sept 8, 2023  USCIS Received Case

October 2, 2023 Completed Biometrics and within hours status changed to Actively Reviewing.

May 2, 2024 Approved and card is being produced.

 

Stepdaughters case had "Received" status since September 8 with no updates or changes in status since until it was approved today.

Previously we never received any e-mail or sms notifications at all, despite the fact we included a properly completed G-1145 E-Notification form as the first page of our application.  But this time their email notification system kicked into overdrive and my wife received 2 duplicate notification emails and my stepdaughter received 4 duplicate notification emails, all simultaneously.  We still have never received any SMS messages whatsoever.  So we count USCIS's e-notification system as a little iffy at best.

Green Cards arrived by surprize today.  Of course USCIS status had not updated to shipped, but oddly even the normally reliable USPS Informed Delivery did not detect the incoming Priority Mail until after they were actually delivered to our mailbox.  An interesting but inconsequential detail is that the expiration dates on the cards differ by three weeks between my wife and stepdaughter.  My stepdaughters card expires 05/01/2034 which correlates with the I751 approval date and is the expiration date one would expect.  However, my wife's card expires 04/10/2034 which is good enough for us but I can't think of anything that date would correlate to.  It does not match the approval notice or any USCIS activity that I am aware of.  It is a seemingly random expiration date.  4/10 is 2 days after we returned from traveling in the UK and Schengen area if maybe that generated some kind of activity???   But hey, we are happy with it.  Just odd the date difference.  Both of their "resident since" dates are the same and correct. 

 

We successfully updated Global Entry with the new expiration dates online.  Previously trying to enter the extended expiration date of the expired cards did not work online.  Though they had successfully entered the US through Global Entry with expired cards, extension letters and a brief stop with a friendly CBP agent.

 

Final timeline:

 

9/6/2023  --  I-751 packet mailed by USPS Priority Mail.
9/8/2023  --  Packet received by Phoenix lock box.
9/12/2023 --  Credit card charged.
9/21/2023 --  Received extension letters and online access codes.

9/30/2023 --  Received notices of biometrics appointments. 
10/2/2023 --  Biometrics appointment date.

10/2/2023 -- Wifes case status changed to  "Actively Reviewing"

5/2/2024 -- I-751's Approved

5/2/2024 -- Status "We are producing your new card"

5/10/2024 -- Status "We produced your new card"

5/13/2024 -- Both cards arrived 

 

Next stop N400 at the end of July.

We received the NOA for i-751 in September and haven't heard anything since other than the extension. Looking through the thread it seems most people aren't having interviews. Is this common now unless there's some sort of problem with the application?

Pretty common to not hear anything. Most people are just moving forward with the N-400 (citizenship), and getting that faster, and then the I-751 being closed out (received by other means).

I-751 doesn't get just closed out, it gets adjudicated. Decision is made, most of the times approval. Closed out is typically for I-485 when somebody has multiple ways to become a resident. Or if you have pending I-131, I-765 and receive GC.
