Dear Team,

Can spouse of USA Citizen apply for B2 Visa when I-130 is in process? The purpose of B2 Visa will be only for visit purpose and to stay in USA for less than 180 days.

What are the chances of getting B2 Visa approval? B2 Visa will be applied in Mumbai, India when I-130 is in process. It will be helpful if someone can guide me as I am planning to marry this dec2023 and then file for her I-130 & Spouse Visa.

The intention of applying for B2 Visa so we stay together for few days in USA after marriage while waiting for I-130 approval.  Thank you for your guidance in advance!

You cannot sponsor a B at anytime, would all be down to her, I have seen B's approved when the I 130 is processing, does not seem very common.

Realistically would she get an interview for a B before her Immigrant Visa interview?

Thank you for your response. I heard that I-130 may take for almost 1.5 to 2 years. In that case, what are the other option for her to travel to USA if I cannot sponsor her B2 Visa?

My friend got the B2 Visa appointment last month within a month at Mumbai consulate. Its challenging but very much possible to get appoint for B2 Visa within 1-2 month.

I assume most people who visit the US do not have any US connections. Do not have anyone who could even if it was possible sponsor. They apply on their own merits.

Last time I looked the wait to get a B appointment was nearing 2 years in Mumbai.

~~ Topic moved from IR1/CR1 forum to Tourist visa forum as the question is about applying for a visitor visa ~~

There is no such thing as sponsoring someone for a tourist visa, regardless if they’re your spouse or other relative. The person just applies on their own and sees if they receive the visa. I suggest your read through this thread:

I don’t think it’s possible for anyone to answer this question with certainty. She will have to apply to find out. They look for strong ties (i.e. a well established career) to home country to make a favorable decision, if there is lack of those plus a US citizen husband, chances are probably low.

Without a B visa, she cannot visit the US.  You cannot sponsor a B visa.  She applies, and her application is judged based on ties to India, which are obviously weak since she intends to immigrate.

Very, very unlikely she will get a B visa.  You can go visit her.
