Thank you, I haven’t filed N400 yet cuz my attorney said gotta get I-751 approved first anyway, do u know how long N400 process take to be called in for interview and do historical test?

N400 timing is based on your local field office.  Roughly 6-12 months would be a good estimate.  Btw, your lawyer is partially correct.  As @OldUser stated, the I751 does need to be approved before the N400 is approved, the N400 is a separate application, and you can file as soon as eligible (usually about a year after filing the I751 if filing under the 3 year rule, and assuming you meet all the requirements to file).  In general, the N400 application will be combined with the I751 and they will be decided together, but as with anything USCIS, YMMV.

You can check the estimated timing for you local field office and the N400 using the link below.

Good Luck!

@Dashinka I’m not sure if u ran into the same situation with the case has been transferred and different office has jurisdiction, when u got this notice on your case were u called for an interview?

In my wife’s case, she filed the N400 with her I751 pending, so when she got the notice we assumed it meant the I751 was moved to the local office.  She never received an official notice of an I751 interview, but the IO did conduct a combo interview when my wife was called for her N400 interview.

Btw, your lawyer is partially correct

While the lawyer is partially correct in a legal  sense, for some FOs, the lawyer is 100 percent correct in a practical sense. At at least two FOs I know of, it has been reported that  if N-400 is filed while pending:

* The same ISO must adjudicate both cases

* only a select few ISOs are authorized / trained to adjudicate both cases

* a combo interview must be held. Meaning that once N-400 is filed, the possibility of an I-751 interview waiver goes out the window

The effect then is to delay both cases.

Possibly, in my wife’s case though in the Detroit FO, it actually sped things up by about 4-6 weeks, and that was when I751s were just starting to be deprioritized.  The way I look at it, if naturalization is the end goal, why wait to get that clock ticking.
