There's a really big confusion with the Visa bulletin, because i remember my visa category was current "C" on the Visa bulletin months ago, so upon checking I found out that i was right.

The current dates on the visa bulletin may change from month to month.  The fact that F2A was "C" months ago is not relevant to your interview scheduling now.  What matters is whether or not your case PD is current on this month's VB.  Unfortunately for you, F2A retrogressed 6 years to 2017.  You will not be scheduled for interview until your PD becomes current again.  And while your PD is not current, you will not be granted an expedite even if F2A had been "C" months ago.

I understand that this depressing info may be hard to accept.  Again, I suggest you consult with a trustworthy immigration lawyer about your options.

What does that mean for my case that was in line for an interview... ?

See Chancy’s answer to this question.

Your visa class is one that is numerically limited  annually, and the supply/demand drives which date is current.  Hopefully it will see some movement next year.

  • 5 months later...

Good day,

My priority date is finally CURRENT for the upcoming March 2024 visa bulletin !!!

I remarked that my priority date was 17-June-2020 but when i checked again, it changed to 12-June-2020, is this something normal !!??

My case was documentary qualified on 23 September 2022. However, I transferred my case from the U.S. Embassy in Haiti to the Dominican Republic, on 25 August 2023. I understand that the National Visa Center (NVC) schedules appointments on a first-in, first-out basis, and I am trying to estimate my wait time for an interview appointment.

So since when am i waiting for an appointment, what is my first-in date ?

So how long do i have to wait for NVC to schedule an interview once your my case is current now?

Thank you.

Yes, it's current next month, so your case will be added to the queue for an interview when March rolls around. Once you've been added to the queue, the length of wait seems to be about 6 months in DR, although that is for spousal (immediate relative) cases, so you may find yours is a bit longer as they will be given priority.

Good luck.

Good luck.

But according to the NVC :

Quote

The U.S. Embassy or Consulate tells NVC when they hold interviews, and we fill the appointment dates as the cases become qualified. We schedule appointments one month in advance, but we cannot predict when an interview will be scheduled.

My Case became Documentary Qualified on 23 September 2022, so... Maybe i could get an interview way sooner.

Yes, they'll fill dates as people become DQ'ed, i.e. as they're added to the queue - you just haven't been added to the queue as your PD wasn't current. I'd assume an interview towards the end of the year (assuming they prioritise immediate relatives for interviews, as most consulates do) and then be pleasantly surprised if it's any earlier.

Good luck.
