confused about Adminstrative Processing and passport

My husband interviewed on aug 15 2023 in abu dhabi and he had a missing document (original marriage certificate),he had a copy only and at the end of interview the consular told him to fill out by email ds5535 and send and gave him a white paper 211g which i attached . That same day we got an email from embassy with link for ds5535 which we send on same day.But are they suppossed to reply to it or confirm they got it cuz they never did. Then i sent him the original birth certficate thru dhl and he sent through courier to embassy along with that whiteslip but courier service approved by embassy(empost) told him he had to send passport too which they never asked for but he kept insisting and told him he cant accept document without passport .so he sent them with passport .the next week on 25 case was updated but still read refused.yesterday 28th we received through empost from embassy our marriage certificate and white slip that we sent and passport with a new paper that i will attach too saying we are still under Ap  and checked on passport 

My question is when do they request passport ,after their done with ap or send it back now and if now why did they send it back not keep it.Also anyone with same situation and we let them know through email my husband  had to travel  back to iraq by 21  but can make different travel arrangements .

is that why they send it?

my brother had same issue , he got administrative processing cuz there was 

missing  documents and he received same letter telling him to send those missing documents. his interview was 4 october 2022 and the next week after we send the missing documents surprisingly they sent documents back to us without any explanation and the status was still “refused “ we then thought that they will notify us when the administrative process is complete and we can send documents , so we waited them for 5 months and no there was no email or notification from them our lawyer contact the embassy to know what’s going on and they said we have to send  the documents and they are waiting for us !! we send the documents again and this tine my brother got issued his visa .

still i don’t why they didn’t accept the documents first time or why they didn’t send any email to tell that administration process is completed? they wasted our time and we didn’t  have much experience to deal with  the situation.  administration process can be tricky so contact as soon as possible to know what’s going on that was our best solution and not waste your time like we did. our case was in US EMBASSY ANKARA .

i emailed them and theyre saying general answers like you are in adminstrative processing and wait for further processing  and updated once after i sent marriage certificate

 

how long will ap take long??

Hello! AP processing of missing documents is usually completed in 60 days but you also had to fill out a DS-5535 (extra background checks) which can take weeks, months, or sometimes years. It is different for every case. Once AP is complete the embassy will send an email and request passport back.

how do i know they received ds5535 because they never replied to it by email

Some receive and some don't. In our case, Ankara responded same day with a confirmation it was received by email. 

 

If you want peace of mind try emailing the embassy and ask if they can confirm receipt of your DS-5535.

No visa its been 2 months  but they told me in email my case is ready yet and when they want to finish processing the case they will ask to send back passport to them

But if you received the approval email doesn’t that mean you have to send in your passport to the embassy?

no they told me specifically that case is ready but when we finish processing we will ask you to send passport but now
