Still waiting for Visa Interview date?

Hi,

My husband’s documents got approved on Jan 4th and we are still waiting for an interview date….is this normal? I thought it would take a couple of months to schedule it. We started this visa journey in July 2021. It’s about to be two years and I am desperate.

Final question — and there is nothing I can do to speed the process?

Thanks in advance!

You can sue, I know some Consulates are backed up, difficult to believe yours is.

Some consulates have a wait of a couple of months for an interview, some have a wait of a couple of years due to backlogs. A search of the forum may reveal others who've applied via the same consulate and given their timelines.

The consulate website does say "Please be advised that the lengthy suspension of services and need to maintain physical distance among our staff and applicants has led to greatly reduced appointment capacity, which has created a significant backlog of immigrant visa applicants awaiting an interview", but doesn't give a timeframe for an interview unfortunately.

Good luck.

It is difficult to believe mine is too! It’s such a small island

I was surprised they did immigrant visas

I assume it is a very small operation
