So my i29f was approved and my fiancé got sent the I 797 form in the mail and it’s saying that nvc will be sending i 29f to the London embassy, I’ve not received anything in the mail saying it’s arrived. Am I supposed to be waiting for an appointment to be set up or do I need to start doing stuff online to set up my embassy interview. For example do I need to do my ds 160 and start getting everything finalized?

NVC will notify you when they will forward your petition to the consulate. If you want to know your case number before that happens, you will have to contact NVC. It’s currently taking 60-90+ days for a case to go from USCIS to NVC.

So I’ve received the notice that’s says they will be sending it to the embassy and it’s nearing the time the approval notice will expire and I haven’t heard anything after, again my fiancé received the i 797 notice of action form.

That is not an issue if delays are out of your control

So what I mean by they is I have received the i797 from uscis and saying nvc will take over, is there a delay in when my fiancé should be reviewing his welcome letter in the mail in his country?

Yes because NVC has not even received it. It cannot go straight from USCIS to the consulate

If there was an issue I’m sure they would tell me so I just gotta wait. Also that being said to make sure I shouldn’t have to worry about the expiry date on the i797 correct?

The expiry date doesn’t seem to matter. My I-797 technically expired on the 3rd of this month and my interview isn’t until next week. I believe they’ll just automatically renew it since the recent delays with this whole process are completely out of the petitioner/beneficiary’s control.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have emailed the nvc and they said they have sent my file to the embassy and that it is currently in transit on the 15th of august. They have emailed me my invoice id and my case number, where do i go from there i read a lot of different things online and i want to be on the right track.

Another thing is that i have only 1 month left before my approval expires at the end of september but i barely got my file sent off, should i be worried. what should i do?

Any information would help please, im worried that something bad will happen when we've waited so long. (K1 visa)

As long as the beneficiary is actively seeking a visa, then the expiration of the approved I-129F petition should be extended by the State Department until the K-1 is denied or approved.

yes

or should we contact someone?

Cannot hurt to inform NVC and the consulate that the beneficiary remains interested in the visa despite the petition expiring.

Thank you for this information, do you know our next steps we should take?

You can email the consulate, noting the I-129F expiration date. If, 2 weeks before I-129F expires the embassy has remained mute, I would file DS-160.

You can check your status on CEAC: https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?App=IV
Yes, it's immigrant, and no, you don't need an account or to use your invoice number for anything at all.

I'd say your case is already "Ready" since it was shipped last week (if that's what you meant there/if you got the K1-FTP email last week).
How to proceed would depend on your embassy, some will want you to wait for them to contact them, others you can go ahead and schedule everything yourself. I can't really know what's your embassy as you don't have a timeline filled.

One thing you can do anyway is to fill out and submit DS-160.

February 2022 I-129F K1 Case Status Spreadsheet can be found here.
NVC Timelines spreadsheet can be found here.
NOA1:
Feb 22nd, 2022 | NOA2: May 12th, 2023 (444 days) | NVC Received: July 3rd, 2023 (52 days) | Case number: Aug 2nd, 2023 (82 days) | In Transit: Aug 15th, 2023 (95 days)  | Ready: Aug 17th, 2023 | Medical: Sep 22nd, 2023 | Interview: Sep 26th, 2023
