K1 - Case Transfer from Montreal to Viet Nam

Hi everyone, I and my fiancé has been dealing struggles from our case for nearly 2 years.

 

After a long time waiting since Nov 2021, our case was finally approved on Mar 2023 and we already got our case number too. However, I went back to Viet Nam in 2022 and we had no idea that we had to notify the NVC to transfer our case to VN when our case was approved. After that, we have to send many inquiries to the Embassys to transfer the case. After nearly 3 months, the status of our case changed to “Transfer in Progress” as below.

 

Has anyone known how long it will arrive to the country that I live? Or has anyone experienced this situation before? I look forward to hearing from your response. Thank you so much!

try checking status on CEAC site

it it was just sent in the 3rd ,  give it some time and then try to schedule the interview

 

Did they change your ID to HCM  -basically just wondering  if they do this when transfering a case?

No, they have not changed to HCM I dont know why, they just add "01 MTL" after the CaseNumber. I check it everyday and the status is still the same. Some say it takes about 4-8 weeks to transfer it to another Consulate. The US Embassy in my country said that they would notify us when they received the file.
