Yes. That's why we want to complete the process. I know 5 years is so long and it may be difficult to convince the consuler, but Nothing in hand

First step would be to meet each other either in Egypt or another country. Then after that see about submitting the fees for NVC and check to see if you can apply for the visa. NVC doesn't take a long time.... maybe 2 weeks. The last time I checked DQ to interview for Egypt took about 6 months. So, make sure you and your wife meet at least 1-2 more times while you are waiting for your interview date. This way when CO asks when last you saw each other you can truthfully say you have met 2 times in the last year.

Be aware some people get a DS5535. So, they might add on to your waiting time. You might also be more likely to get this form because of the military service....

Personally, I wouldn't move forward with immigration paperwork until you've seen your wife in person again.

Wife needs to move to your country.   You still may never get an immigrant visa.

You are not eligible for a spousal visa.  They will see immediately that it is not a legitimate marriage.

How bonafide is this marriage? Sure, it might be official, but you haven’t seen each other in 5 years and ‘sort of’ are in contact? This really doesn’t look good.

Your US spouse needs to join us here.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

My first question would be why you have not seen each other.

You need to be aware that whatever you think of the questions here is nothing compared to the Consulate.

The concept is that you conduct yourselves in ways people with bona fide marital relationships do.  The last 5 years is gone.  Next step, is to get together in person for at least a few weeks.  She is your petitioner and sponsor.  You cannot get this visa on your own.

Consular Officers know that people do what is important to them.  If you and your wife have not seen each other in person, in five years, everybody knows that means that seeing each other was NOT important to one or both of you.  In your circumstances, that equates to a relationship only for immigration purposes.  Change the circumstances by spending some significant time together in person.

Honestly, you seem to have a history which will receive a lot of scrutiny.  Residing together for a few years outside the US might help a lot.

Even a few months could make the difference.  As things stand now, moving forward would be a waste, and probably assure you NEVER get a visa.

Do you really think a woman you are only "sort of" in contact with, is going to provide and sign an affidavit of support for you?

Live together CONTINUOUSLY for a SUBSTANTIAL amount of time in your home country before even attempting to apply. Even at that, it will be VERY difficult to overcome the fact that you didn't see your wife, even once, for an entire five year period of time. I'm not convinced you will ever get a spousal visa to the U.S.

I would also suggest you have your join visa journey as she will be petitioning you and she needs to understand the process.
