N-400 Interview cancelled

Hello all,

 

I did a withdrawal request for my N-400 application on June 15.

I applied for N-400 originally on May 9th.

 

On July 11. i received an interview notice for 08/24. 

basically after I send a withdrawal.

 

I guess it got overlapped.

 

Last week I received the cancellation notice which states:

 

This is to advise you that, as requested, we have canceled the interview on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 08:00AM for the above applicant. We will advise you of any further action taken on this case, including any rescheduled interview information, under separate notice.

 

 

Now my question is:

the status says "interview cancelled". why not "withdrawn"? or is it the same thing? I specifically asked to withdraw my N400 due to health reasons and me not being able to move forward with my application as of right now.

I do not see why it matters. If they schedule another interview, after you asked to withdraw, this is on USCIS, and your N-400 case will be denied after you no show.

u definitely dont need to go since u asked not to continue n-400. it doesnt matter between the wording of withdrawn and cancelled. USCIS only have generic template and can't customize the wording

Why would you want to attend an interview for a case which you’ve withdrawn?

FROM F1 TO AOS

October 17, 2019 AOS receipt date 

December 09, 2019: Biometric appointment

January 15, 2020 RFE received

January 30, 2020  RFE response sent

Feb 7: EAD approved and interview scheduled

March 18, 2020 Interview cancelled

April 14th 2020: RFE received

April 29, 2020 Approved without interview

May 1, 2020 Card in hand

 

REMOVAL OF CONDITIONS

February 1, 2022 package sent

March 28, 2022 Fingerprints reused

July 18, 2023 approval

July 20, 2023 Card in hand

 

N400 

January 30,2023: Online filing

February 4th, 2023: Biometric appointment

June 15th, 2023: Case actively being reviewed

July 11th, 2023: Interview scheduled.

August 30th, 2023: Interview!

August 31st, 2023: Oath ceremony scheduled.

Sept 19th, 2023: Officially a US citizen!

Sending the withdrawal in BEFORE or AFTER the interview is scheduled has the same impact. Once they have the request to withdrawal they follow procedure= cancel.

You withdrew. so they cancelled the interview.

You shouldn’t go because you withdrew the N400. So, they correctly canceled the interview.

No, don't go .You withdrew your application and the interview got canceled. Hope, you get better soon! And , when you're ready, just reapply for naturalization 😉

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I totally understand, thank you.

 

This was my thought process: I did the withdrawal, that's why I thought my case status would be now: Application withdrawn / instead Interview cancelled. (in my opinion) it was just the wording, at the end of the day of course it doesn't matter, it's cancelled, i get that.
