great ! hopefully everything work out. the only reason i know the detail about scanning thing because usps just "lost" my passport 3 weeks ago and combine that knowledge with 2020 incident, thats how i know, the issue will be the forwarding mail option that you already reverted

I wasn't able to revert it. Extended forwarding cannot be canceled. Will see how it goes, maybe somehow I'll be lucky.

Meanwhile approval notice got sent according to the latest USCIS status.

Update: I went to the USPS office and talked to an employee. I explained the entire situation and the fact this mail from USCIS is super important.

Based on employee's explanation, if I was to put a Hold Mail, the mail would not be attempted to be forwarded. According to him, the forwarding bit happens at the location  location (not sure if it's 100% accurate) and if hold is in place, mail will be held.

I asked whether I can put any note or mark in their system to hold and not forward / return mail to USCIS. He gave me a yellow piece of paper, Authorization to Hold Mail, addressed to Post Master.

I guess this form is the same as the one I filed online already. But I just want to make sure it's held for collection.

He asked me how far I would be living now, and agreed it's a short drive to pick it up. Overall, he seemed sympathetic. I hope this works!

Interestingly, USCIS website mentions USPS Hold Mail service:

Quote

Applicants can sign up for USPS Informed Delivery to receive delivery status notifications. Applicants will also have the option to arrange for pickup at a post office at a convenient date and time by going to the USPS website and selecting “hold for pickup.”

Holding my fingers crossed this is going to work!

The day the card is delivered will be tense, like an episode of 24. I hope we get updates every hour.

Ahaha yes we're getting closer.

Got tracking number. Not on USCIS website, just a text message by USPS about package coming this Saturday (the day of move haha) USPS intercept did not work with this tracking number. Got message: "Unfortunately, this item is ineligible for USPS package intercept". Tried adding delivering instructions, also got error. So hoping hold will work.

What time are you moving Saturday? Literally wait for the mail man :D

im serious what time does the mail come usually? I think they have it with them, stand by your mailbox until he comes and he will hand it to you plus ask for it!!! I have a good feeling you’ll have it Saturday

When tomorrow starts without me..

please try to understand, That an Angel came and called

my name, and took me by the hand; The angel said my

place was ready, In Heaven far above, And that I'd have

to leave behind all those I dearly love. But when I walked

through Heaven's Gates, I felt so much at home, for God

looked down, smiled at me, And told me "Welcome Home."

So when tomorrow starts without me,

Don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me,

I'm right there in your heart.

I put Hold Mail request, so don't anticipate mail man having the package with them. Also they come randomly anywhere between 7-8 am and 8-9 pm
