I ticked no in I-485 subject of inadmissibility under public charge etc…

Your son is subject to public charge and is in the U.S. on an F-1 visa?

I would wait for the I-485 receipt and then send unsolicited evidence correcting the I-485.

This new form asked if applicant is subject to public charge rule. He is not. So I ticked No. apparently the guidance says most immigration benefit applicants are subject to the rule, and should tick yes. Only certain types of applicants are not subject to the rule. The old form was more straightforward. I saw some confusion in various discussion forums. I will wait until I receive the notice and correct it.

thanks!!

@Mike E hello! What do you think of Uscis receipt date is based on? Is it the date they received the mail or the date they scanned and start processing the application? I haven’t received notice by text and checks are not cashed yet. I’m worried.

I think it will be the day they get it out of the lock box. I am sure there has been an avalanche of F2As.

Update: Received the text today and the date of the receipt is the same as UPS delivered date. Checks are not cashed yet, but for now feeling relieved.

I am so happy for your family and you. What blessing that he can stay in U.S. now, indefinitely.
