Extension for k-1 application in Nairobi

We have been trying to schedule an appointment in Nairobi since May 2023 when our case was forwarded to Nairobi but just managed to get a date today for the interview on 29th of September 2023. However the email we received with visa application instructions said we needed to submit our application before 22nd September. Is this a problem and do we require to get an extension?

Do you mean that the I-129F approval notice says it's only valid until 22nd September?  The consulate typically extends that automatically for another 4 months.  For extra peace of mind, you may contact the consulate directly to request an extension.

Hi thanks for responding to my inquiry. This is comforting to know there is possibility for extension of that deadline. To quote, this was what was written in the original email with instructions that we received below.

• Please note that the petition (Form I-129F) is approved for status under Section 101(a)(5)(k) and is only valid for four (4) months from the initial approval date provided by USCIS.  You are required to submit your K-1 application before September 22-2023.

Like you have advised, we went ahead and scheduled for 29th September which is the date available for an interview and we shall submit an inquiry as well to see if that is an issue. Thank you for your guidance.
