If i have criminal record, can I apply for B1 visa?

Hi, If i am charged with shop lifting in my country, later i wanna visit my family in the US, does it affect my application for a B1 visa?

 

Do I need to show evidence that i have a clear criminal record?

Check DS-160 form questions, I'm 99.999% sure you'll be asked about criminal charges.

a question on application,  

however most times you

are asked at interview if you

been arrested convicted if

asked tell the truth, if not

you don't have to mention

OP may certainly apply, but there's definitely a question about having a criminal record on the DS-160 -- "Have you ever been arrested or convicted for any offense or crime, even though subject of a pardon, amnesty, or other similar action?" under the section on Security & Background Information.  OP must disclose on the DS-160 that they were charged with a crime.
