uploading documents to nvc.

AOS

my father and his wife will be the joint sponsor.

It asks for proof of my fathers citizenship, and proof of relationship.  I am assuming my father will submit a copy of his passport, and his wife will submit a signed statement about their marriage.

does my wife need to bring these original documents with her to the interview, or is a copy good enough?

Interview is at Tokyo Embassy

DS-260

are there any optional documents that I need to upload that are not mentioned?

children's birth certificates?

my wife has 2 passports, but nvc only asks for the one where we are doing the interview.  Do I need to upload the 2nd passport biographic page?

My father is going to be a joint sponsor for me and is submitting the I-864

He files joint taxes with his current wife, so she is submitting the I-864a.

NVC is asking for proof of relationship for between my father and his wife.

they are traveling now, so a statement is much quicker

Is this good enough or should I make changes?

RE: Proof of relationship to Joint Sponsor, [joint sponsor]

Case Number: [case number]

To whom it may concern,

Please accept this statement as proof of my relationship to [joint sponsor], who is the Joint sponsor for [sponsor name]. I personal agree to provide support for [sponsor] and [beneficiary] as needed while they reside in the United States.

I have known [joint sponsor] for [x] years and we were married on [date].  We currently live at [address] and have been living together since our marriage.

I have known [sponsor] for [x] years. They have lived with [joint sponsor] and I for approximately [x] years.  I keep in regular contact with [sponsor] through email and weekly calls.

Sincerely,

[Signature]

[Date]

For a married couple submitting I-864 & I-864A, proof of relationship would be their marriage certificate.  No need for signed statement.

Plus the signed statement will not work.  Typically, the Tax Return or Return transcript showing they file Married Filing Jointly is all the evidence of THEIR relationship that's needed.

You also must provide evidence they actually live in the USA, so do that with a utility bill showing both names.

You are not the one adding a household member.  Your joint sponsor is adding their spouse, with whom they file taxes jointly.  Circumstances are different.

Both father and mother, yes.
