Does the interview need to be scheduled first?

Yes. The medical facility will want to see an interview letter (IL).

And you do not want to book it as soon as you get the IL because medical exams have an expiration date of 6 months which is also tied to the visa expiration date.

Typically in UK interviews are ~2-3 months from DQ.  Could be less.  I was DQ'd 15th June, IL received 29th June, Interview is 8th August.

@jons_wifey Visa medicals have alot of availability at the moment, so you should find it easy to book once you are DQ.  If you are missing any vaccines, it may be worthwhile already getting them on NHS if you can.  I had MMR and tetanus booster done.

I just want to know if I have to wait to be scheduled with the interview first before booking medical.

I thought medical is needed along with all the other stuff before an interview date is set

so back to my original question. according to knightsbridge medical nothing there states bring your interview letter with you, only on the questionnaire does it ask for the NVC case number...

Like, What specific documents are accepted and therefore NVC says - ok, no more documents we are satisfied with what you have submitted to us.

For category IR5

is MEDICAL a part of being DQ'd?y

I am trying to figure out a timeline for my parents.

From what I understand, its:

1. be DQ'd

2. wait for Interview date/letter

3. schedule medical BEFORE the interview

Is this right or wrong or maybe?

Yes I'm aware medical only lasts for 6 months.

I had to state the date of my interview and take the appointment letter with me - it was on their list of requested items I recieved after booking the appointment.  This was only a couple of weeks ago so recent.

The medical is not needed before an interview is set in consular processing, but it is requested to have it at least 2 weeks before the interview date to ensure they can send it to the embassy in time.

In my case IL received 29th June, I booked the medical on 29th June for 13th July, Interview is scheduled 8th August.

That is the normal sequence of events.

OK.

What documents entailed does it mean to be DQ'd?

NVC will inform you of what documents are needed.  Once NVC has accepted all required documents, the case is considered "Document Qualified".  Then, this is the sequence:

1. Case is DQ'd by NVC.

2. Case then enters NVC queue for your consulate and waits at NVC.

3. Consulate informs NVC of available interview date for upcoming month.

4. NVC schedules interview when case reaches the front of the queue for that consulate.

5. NVC notifies person of interview date via email.

6. NVC then sends case to consulate.

After the interview is scheduled by NVC, it can take several days to several weeks for the consulate to receive the case.

This might work for London at the moment, but, In general, this is not good practice for most consulates since interviews might not be scheduled for many months.  I would wait until the interview has been scheduled before completing the medical exam.  In fact, an interview date is required before booking medicals for many consulates.

Once the medical is complete, the clock for visa expiration starts ticking.

NVC normally sends a checklist specific to your consulate.

Thanks.  I actually meant to write IL, in referring to having plenty of appointments available.  I'll correct my post.

Ok. I just want to be prepared on the documents they might potentially request from me as the petitioner and my parents as applicants
