Travel to/from the USA/Global Entry

@Mike E, I have recent Global entry anecdata - newly naturalized U.S. citizen with Canadian passports.

 

So it transpires that neither of my Canadian friends updated their GE profile with their U.S. passport.  In the last 12 months, both have gone through GE with facial recognition.  Not flagged.

 

Once they went through GE, the machine was busted and CBP officer in the GE line swiped their US passports.  No questions asked.

I urged them to update it.  They said they didn’t see the urgency as obviously “something must have synced up” - their POEs would be Caribbean and Toronto.  Maybe JFK.  Don’t think they have gone anywhere else.

 

The husband’s has expired and you can add yours in via the renewal app.

 

The wife does not want to bother.

 

They filed N400 same time online.  Husband got his last year, wife earlier this year.

IME, (though it has been over a year for me at YYC) every GE user still has to be processed by a CBPO after being processed by a kiosk (kinda useless most days).

Just to add our recent personal experience.

 

My wife received her new and first US passport about 3 months ago and we figured we would update her global entry information to include her new passport since her global entry was tied to her permanent residence on our return from our next international trip. 

 

Fast forward to now after having done 2 overseas trips, one to Romania and another to Thailand.  Wanted to see what would happen when we got back and went thru Global Entry. Return from Romania, nothing, she went right thru no questions asked. Just got back from Thailand this past Sunday and same thing, no questions. We didn't bring the subject up either so.....

 

We came into Houston both times where they use facial recognition for GE.
