I am in the process of filing I-130 for my mom. I am a US citizen! What documents do I need? Just want to sure, so I avoid RFE. The process already is lengthy, thank you

No. In Nigeria

I-130 is the only form needed.

You also need these pieces of evidence:

* your evidence of U.S. citizenship.

* your birth certificate

* if her name does not match that of her birth certificate, her lawful change of name document(s)

Photo copies only.

I am a USC and applying for immigrant visa for my mom. She is currently in Nigeria! What stage of the process do we need her birth certificate? Also, she and my dad got married traditional, no marriage license was issued. I lost my dad few year ago. Is marriage certificate required at any point in the process for my mom? Thank you

Birth Certificate yes after all this is showing that she is your Mum

Marriage Certificate no, she was never married

You will need the BC when you submit the I130 to prove your relationship to your mother, so right at the first stage of filing for her.  When you fill out the I130, I assume online, there will be a place to upload a scanned copy of the BC.

Good Luck!

Your birth certificate that shows your mom’s name as your mother.  I am not positive if you will need your mother’s BC at the time of the interview, but you may.

Her BC will be needed for NVC and she will need to bring the original and a photo copy to her visa interview.

I am USC about to start the process for my mom’s IR5. Will she need her marriage certificate anytime in the process from start to finish even if I’m petitioning for her alone? Thank you
