Concerns on moving to a third country while waiting for NOA2

Hello Community,

My fiancé and I plan on moving in September to a third country in Latin America for about 4 months while we await the NOA2, as the wait has been very long and we would like to be together. She would then return to Russia after receiving the NOA2 and get everything ready for the embassy interview process. I have searched the forum but have not seen any reasons for concerns and wanted to ask the community if there was anything we should consider or general advice. Thank you for the advice and time each of you contribute, we would not have been able to put in the I-29f without the help from this forum.

Thanks!

Why Russia?   As her interview will not be there.

You need to retain domicile in the US to sponsor her.   Will you be relying on a joint sponsor?

Hello,

To clarify, she is Russian living in Russia. We met in the US and travelled together in Latin America before she returned to Russia. The interview will be in Warsaw (according to what I have read), but I am not certain what will happen between NOA2 and the Embassy interview in Warsaw other than filling out paperwork and waiting for the appointment. So it may make sense for her to not return to Russia?

I will retain my home in the US and will be back to it after she returns to Russia. Once she has the K1 she will move with me to my home in US. That is the plan. She will also retain her apartment in Russia while we do this.

Between NOA2 and the interview in Warsaw, your fiancee should be applying for a Schengen visa, in case she doesn't already have one.  She should also prepare the originals/certified copies of all the required civil documents and police certificate(s) for the interview.  If she needs to be physically in Russia to do so, then that's that.  Visa medical can be in Russia or in Poland (assuming she has a valid Schengen visa).

And what will you do for a salary to sponsor her?

She should be focusing on getting a Schengen visa.   Apparently it is getting harder by the day for Russians to get them.

Thanks again for replying. I am currently able to work remotely and will continue to receive my salary while abroad.

She just got approved for the Schengen visa so we are good on that front. Is there anything else that should be concerning? How long after NOA2 should she return to Russia? Can she do most things while away? Does she even need to return?

No need to return to Russia, unless she cannot acquire any of the required civil documents from abroad.
