Can you update me please..

I received email notification on the 29th Nov and received my card in the post yesterday. It says approval date the

26th Nov 07. Many Thanks!!!

Now I just need to wait for my service request to answered regarding the lack of my daughters bio appt.

It's hard to believe this but I received an email from USCIS that my AP has been approved today and has been sent in the mail. Thats an amazing 19 days since it was received. I wish they were this fast with EAD or other stuff. I applied last month, though I filed everything else earlier.

There is a great chance I won't use it and wasted by money but I didn't expect things to move fast...I am really not complaining about ;)

Hope things start going fast for everyone, thanks CB82 for updates.

July 20: Mailed I-130 for both parents.

July 22: NOA 1 Priority Date

July 28: Received NOA1 in mail.

I went on Tuesday to see if I could get my drivers license renewed. The lady had to go check with someone but came back saying she could issue me a license for one year in my married name. Yeah!

So she took my picture, i signed my name and she printed out a temporary driving permit, as I should receive my license by mail. However she then realised when she saw the temporary permit that she forgot to change my last name to my married name. She apologised and joked how she should have stayed at home. She tried to do somthing on the computer but then said she wouldn't be able to change the name because its in a central system. Then she said it was because my maiden name was on my social security card. So my card will only be issued in my maiden name and can't be changed until i get my social security card name changed (which I can't do until I get my green card).

However when I got home, i remembered that I signed my name on the machine with my married name. So now i have to wait til i get my license and see if it comes with my maiden name on it but my married name signature and then make another appointment to try and change the signature. Ahhh.

I was hoping to change my name to my married name on the bank accounts and stuff, cos I don't know if that would look better at an interview, but I can't.

I don't know if this applies to you as well ... but I just wanted to let you know that I was able to change my name on my social security card (and I dont have my green card yet.) I just had to go to my consulate and change my name on my passport. (This was the advice of the social security employee). I then went back to social security ... showed them my passport and marriage certificate. Oh, and I also changed my USCIS student I-20 form to my married name. (I am currently in grad school.) This way, all my forms are the same.

I then went back to social security ... showed them my passport and marriage certificate. Oh, and I also changed my USCIS student I-20 form to my married name. (I am currently in grad school.) This way, all my forms are the same.

I went on Tuesday to see if I could get my drivers license renewed. The lady had to go check with someone but came back saying she could issue me a license for one year in my married name. Yeah!

So she took my picture, i signed my name and she printed out a temporary driving permit, as I should receive my license by mail. However she then realised when she saw the temporary permit that she forgot to change my last name to my married name. She apologised and joked how she should have stayed at home. She tried to do somthing on the computer but then said she wouldn't be able to change the name because its in a central system. Then she said it was because my maiden name was on my social security card. So my card will only be issued in my maiden name and can't be changed until i get my social security card name changed (which I can't do until I get my green card).

However when I got home, i remembered that I signed my name on the machine with my married name. So now i have to wait til i get my license and see if it comes with my maiden name on it but my married name signature and then make another appointment to try and change the signature. Ahhh.

I was hoping to change my name to my married name on the bank accounts and stuff, cos I don't know if that would look better at an interview, but I can't.

Thanks for the advice. I think because you are still in school and have a valid I-20 and probably a valid I-94, that you were able to change your name on your social security card. Since my I-94 has expired I don't think i'd be able to change it. This stuff can be all too confusing at times :blink:
