Yeah, it's because there's such a huge influx of filers right before the rate hikes.

Ah, thank you. Clearly I failed to browse the whole thing.

I'm curious just how big the spike in applications is relative to, say, last July, and if they hired extra help to help battle the tide of paperwork. Though we're patient, things may get tight between the time my wife's student/work visa expires (end of this month) and she (hopefully) receives her green card and is able to work again. Oh yeah, and she can't leave the country until then either, so we may have to delay visiting my new in-laws. :whistle:

In our case, we would have filed at the same time with or without the rate increase as would many others. I'm really itching to start working too, so I know where you're coming from. Have you considered filing for an EAD? It might be quicker than waiting for the Greencard to arrive.

Yeah, we discussed the whole EAD thing. The problem is, on top of all the additional paperwork and fees, there's no guarantee how soon she'd receive one - it may come a month before green card approval, or a week, so it's quite the gamble. She (well, we) just doesn't trust the ol' bureaucracy in all its glorious inefficiency.

Have you considered filing for an EAD? It might be quicker than waiting for the Greencard to arrive.

I did a quick count on VJ for AOS:

July 16 to July 31 154 filers

July 1 to July 15 53 filers

June 15 to June 30 65 filers.

That's a BIG jump in filers in the end of July.

I doubt the government (or most organizations) would hire (and train) a large number of extra (temporary) workers to process a one-time bulge when there is no penalty to the government for having the "customer" wait an extra month.

While I am not supporting the size of the fee increase, I do know that it got us moving! Otherwise, we might have filed a couple of weeks later. If the government had put in the increase in stages, they might have smoothed out the spike.

I filed mine in Aug 14. I am going through DORA so my timeline will be different, but it my be cool to compare. For me I already have the interview that day, and I havent receive any NOA1 yet, (they told me 60 to 75 days), not biometrics appointment yet either. And I filed AOS, EAD and AP.

Please update us. Today my husband received notice that his biometrics are scheduled for 9/11/07. He still hasn't received the receipt, but it's good to see he's in the system. Thank you!

12/16/2009........ROC was approved.
