Hey August Filers,

I have a query. My application AOS application was postmarked the 28th of July but I just received rejection notice from Chicago saying that I had sent insufficient funds and that I should send the new fee. It shows on the rejection notice that they received it on the 30th of July. Please provide clarification as to whether this is correct. I thought that as long as your application was postmarked before the 30th then the old fee would be acceptable. Has anyone else experienced something similar? or did some people whose applications were received on or after the 30th not get asked to pay the new fee.

I sent my AOS appl. mailed it off on July 27th and Chicago received it on July 31st and the old fees where accepted for me? Don't know what to tell you about that one. Sorry.

Long awaited good news. On 09/10 received NOA1 and Biometrics letter on 9/11, Appointment for Biometrics on 9/25. We are getting there!

Can anybody explain. After the biometric's appointment what are the next steps and possibley the time frame before receiving green card? Thanks Dynamo Dean

Check out the timelines for your local office here: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/aosstats.php?cfl= & here http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/aoslis...op5=5,8,9,10,11 , put your local office name at the bottom and you'll have a good idea of what's going on.

It's hard to set a general time frame because several things can happen: 1/ Your files are sent to your local office and you get an interview, after the interview it can take up to 3 weeks to receive the card in average (for some it takes longer). In that case check what's said for your local office it varies greatly, some are more busy than other.

2/You are transfered to CSC, in which case there are rarely interviews, it's impossible to know how long your file will be there.

3/In either case you can get stuck in the FBI namecheck which means that even if you have an interview they'll tell you: accepted pending on FBI name check. That can take 2-6 months or 2 years.

So as you see it's hard to give you a specific time frame.

Also I noticed some people saying if your case get's transferred to the CSC. That most of the times you won't have a interview? What is that about? Thanks Dynamo Dean

Dynamo-Dean We don't really know. We don't know why people get transfered there as in why them, it's just a way for USCIS to process cases faster and not get too backlogged. That's all we know. Questions come up often asking 'who gets transfered.' Only USCIS has the answer. I guess the case is pretty strait forward, they have good proof that it's bona fide or they just felt like it. Who knows?

divs76 90 days from the time it was received at Chicago is the usual timeline. I heard they have to make a decision by the 80th day.

from uscis.gov:

f you filed a Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, and it has been longer than 90 days since you filed and you haven't gotten an update from us within the last 60 days, and have not seen any public notice that addresses your case type, please don't wait the extra 30 days. Call customer service immediately.

You could receive it before or after the 90 days.
